well all my parts came in oil pan gasket, timing chain cover and related hardware and i have another rear main seal going to look at it if i put it in correct then the seal is bad cause its leaking there again.

I am NOT looking forward to this but need to get it done.
will start about 8 in the morning about 12 i should be done.................Knock on wood

Sometimes they leak out the seal if theres no enough crank ventalation

Offset the seal from the cap so the seems don't line up

I will check pcv valve tomorrow just to be sure, and yes stagger the seal.

Wes Harden
ok

block is from a 70 camaro , 4 bolt main
(at least thats what machine shop had on the tag when i bought it)

Ahh, yup 2 piece. Also put the flange sealer on corners of cap. Use just a little, light covering. I was thinking you had a 1 piece rear main.

And the pan did not seal right where the oil is
So I need to put a flat edge on pan and make sure it’s flat

I had zero luck with the one piece pan gaskets 3 times. Same 010 4b main block from my 70 blazer. Main seals parting lines must be offset.

Using a hamburger oil pan.

Finally went back to a 4 pc gasket.

Permatex "right stuff"

Ceremoniously fit the offsets together in the corners of the timing cover and rear main cap.

Alternate tightening fasteners ans I can't tell you how pleased I am it isn't leaking (yet)
Good luck man

I’ve become convinced that some engines just leak. For whatever reason that’s just what they do. Been fixing seals as I fix other issues and I’m scared to add fluid because it’s nice not seeing leaks haha.

I have to check oil and clean it up took way longer than I thought and my Neiboor Trey helped get balancer on and off so I help him with brakes
