Super Secretive Build Foolsize

Yes lots of people do that. I solid mounted everything and do not like it. Works for a trail rig, but I wouldn't put it on a dd/ weekend cruiser.

Ok yea makes sense. Still want to flex and move a lil bit. I noticed that driver side of the frame is pretty messed up. More then the usual steering box crap. And I think my shackle hanger is bent on the driver side... Not to sure if I should be worried and maybe start looking for another frame or just run it tell it snaps! Ha

Call Kurt and have one of his fancy box tube frames sent to ya lol.

My cage Is all solid mounted and I cant tell any sqeaks or creaks, but I also have a boxed frame

Didn't even think of that! That's a good idea. I like your cage. It's simple but still looks strong.

Stuck again...

So I'm doing all this work in my gramas back yard and by my self. She kind of a badass just so y'all know. I have it all covered so the neighbors won't say anything and get her in trouble. The only real downside to this set up is the ground is dirt and when it rains it becomes pretty swampy... The 60 was on jackstands behind the K5 in the dirt. I didn't have time to get the 60 at least under it so I wouldn't have to in a swamp but I didn't make it... That was the a huge pain for sure! Finally got the 60 under the the truck and the driver side bolted up and found out the hole on the spring pad is to small for the center pin on my leafs so I moved onto the passenger side welp samething on this side spring pad hole to small needing to be drilled and then I found out the third U bolt started to V out around my housing and wouldn't line up to the U bolts pad. Soo I'm kinda at a stand still tell I make run up to RuffStuff and maybe even WFO tomorrow. Get all this shenanigans squared away... So close to having this turd on it's own weight!!! Ha Also figured out the ez inch. Just needed some sleep and a fresh look. I moved it 2 inches forward hopeing to keep the tires off the firewall. Is there anything I would need to keep an eye on with moving the axle that far??? Got some pictures for y'all to look at to get a better picture. Har har :D If anyone has some helpful criticism or tips throw them my way!

Got a list that's slowly getting shorter and shorter but it's hard work when I don't have the knowledge it gets tough. Also I'm ganna need to get new floors I found this and was wondering what y'all thought about them? Will they fit good will they last just that type of stuff. I'll need left and right.

Thanks again guys!

I've had u-bolts do that. I usually just stick a c-clamp on it to squeeze it into the holes. Can be frustrating if the clamp keeps slipping off, but gets the job done.

Keep up the good work!

Is it a normal thing??? Ha I'll give that a shot to save a trip up the hill. I see in your sig you have a TBI454 and a 4l80e. How do you like it?

Yep. RuffStuff u bolts and plates.

I used the same stuff.

If for some reason the u bolt was made wrong (too small of a radius) just bring it back to them. Better than driving all the way up to WFO.

also, before you torque the u bolts all the way down I would recommend checking your castor angle. You'll likely need some shims, WFO sells the steel shims.

Yea I was thinking that. How would I know how much angle to get???

you need to put an angle finder on the axle with the weight of the truck on the axle on flat ground. Harbor frieght sells a magnetic angle finder that works for this.

Should be 4-6 degrees positive caster, I use the spring arm for the reading.

I've been watching this and the third stud never clicked until today. VERY COOL.

I dream about orange parts.....

White girl screams!!!

Ok it's sitting under it's own weight!!! The passenger side isn't sitting on the axle pad all the right now but I'll get to that later. Ha Just look at it. :D I'm pretty sure my steering box will need to be moved a wee bit... Minor details tho cuz I wanted my axle pushed forward. Still not steering made up for it ganna need to figure something out to get it on the trailer along with brakes. The bumper is pretty badass so y'all know! I lifted the truck up from it. I wanted to see how much it would droop out. Doesn't really seem like much to me... I still have the leaf holders in place but I figured they would drop out a more. Kinda bummed. Was thinking maybe longer leaf holders or just run no pin???

Well what do y'all think!?!

Thank you!!! Yea the third stud is being a lil pain right now. Ha My fault but shouldn't be to hard to fix. Just need a new plate. Believe me this has been my dream build for a real long time! Planning on keeping this one. Full top an no smog. What more could you ask for? In California I mean... The lame state. Ha

are those 52's?

Looks like you need to move the front leaf spring back a hole or two in the A-Bomb. Rear FUSH is in the stock location right?

It was in the third hole back on the bumper and at ride height the frame was resting on the leaf so I moved it forward on the bumper. Now at ride height it sits better. The FUSH kit is in the stock location yes.

It was a somewhat normal thing for me when I would loosen the u-bolts to drop the axle for whatever reason after they had been installed. I never thought much of it or had any problems.

I like the 454/4l80e. It has some good grunt, but I'm just stock. I know the rear axle has been replaced and I'm pretty sure it has lower gears than factory. It could use a lower set for more torque (in stock form, that is).

I have had crappy luck with trannys in my past so I'm looking for a tranny that will last longer then a year with wheeling and freeways miles on it. Do you have anything on your motor and tranny set up??? I haven't found much on Google for the to bolted up. Definitely will be running a good tranny cooler and a e-fan! Ha

I haven't had the truck all that long and I have chased an electrical issue with it that would put it in limp mode, which can be a problem with the earlier versions. It ended up being an easy fix (I guess) just by unplugging the harness and plug it back in. Haven't had an issue since.

Like you mentioned, a cooler is the key. That, and get a trans temp gauge. Maybe even a deep oil pan. Gotta keep it cool.

I think it would work well for you with the overdrive. Although, I'm not sure what it would take to get it to work in your rig. Probably a stand-alone controller. Mine came with it from the factory, so I don't know much about it.
