Darn Global warming when is it ever going to kick in.... I like the game lets see some yardage soon

All right you ladies What the Heck are you doing out there! We need to get that ball and push push right through the middle! We need to get some yardage out there!

Johnson whats that on your uniform? Is that a PLEDGE PIN!

Now we're going back out there ladies and kick some metal in the tail and get those points! No GO GO GO GO! Kiiiiiiillllllll!

ok,not much being done yet,but I´ve changed some of the original plans,I´m going to use 52" rears up front, wich will net about 4" of lift, but I will make new mounts on the frame, that will lower the springs another 3-4",this will allow me to get the upper shackle mount under the framerail, and I can mount it to a swing arm, that will allow the front end to drop down to get the most flex out of it.
whith this setup, the spring mounts will actually stick out some in front of the tire line, but I don´t think it will be noticeable IRL driving conditions.

TADA!I actually is getting something done with the burb,I got 2 new 52" aftermarket springs,no lift, and have mocked it up under the truck.
I´ve used the original mounting location both front and rear, wich seems weird, but,I also moved the axle 3" inches forward on the springs,so now the axle sits ~1" forward compared to the original location.
I made new shackles out of 10mm(3/8+") steel plate, holes are 8" apart.
also turned spacers on the lathe to make up for the narrower springs.
I will make 2 angled shims and weld it to my homemade "axleforwardingplates" to get the right pinion angle back.as it sits now,I got 6,5" lift compared to the orginal sagging springs(measured from the springplate to the frame)the dana60 gives about an inch lift too, compared to the springplates location on the old 10bolt.
now on to some crappy pics:D

also looked over my rotted framerails, first pic is how it looks now, second pic is the new material that´ll replace the old ones,6mm(1/4") thick.

got my new rims from summit yesterday, and I got two tires mounted today, the other two need to sit a while whith spreaders in them, will never take air otherwise.
ordered a new u-bolt kit for the dana 60 yesterday,as soon as it gets here,I will mount the wheels up front and start final "trimming":eek1:
so here´s some teaser pic´s :D

hmmm I keep expecting more and all I get is teasd!

Wow, I've never seen rusted Chevy frames. I live in a rust belt in Canada and have never seen a GM truck frame like that!

Dont be a little girl. Lay them down and flash them with starting fluid. They'll bead right up. Did it to 4 of my friends tires yesterday. Sounds like a potato gun :D

well, was trying to capture a glimpse of the homemade angel shim/forwarding plates in its final form, but it is almost invisible,anyhoo.... cut angled pieces out of a 70x70x5mm tubing, and welded them onto the forwarding plates, turned some new location pins on the lathe and got those welded in as well.

here´s a shot of the wheels mounted up front for the first time since I started the build, now the frontend shortening comes into play, the tire are a liiitle bit turned to the right in the pic,but you get a good idea on how the approach angle will turn out, almost 90 degrees :D oh,never mind the yellow paint, were desperate trying to get the airbrush working....

Looking good my friend. Keep giving us updates.

Are you going to try to cut the frame back a bit too? Might have missed it but how far forward is your front axle now?

yes,the frame will be cut as short as possible, the spring mounts will be the only thing sticking out.
axle sits about 1 inch forward of the original position.

it´s outside for the first time in almost 2 years, had to move it to get another car out

no rear on it,that´s why it´s low in the back

x2

Can you get an overall pic please :D

ordered new gears, 5.38-1,installkits with new bearings, and 4 new shocks, ships by boat,so it won´t be here until dec. 1st or so.
hopefully by then I´ve got the new rear part of the frame done, and the springs back on.
