Swetty - I'm the f'in new guy around here but my story parallels yours 20-some years earlier. I turned 16 in 1984 and had a bone stock but great shape '78 K5 Cheyenne to drive - running boards and all. My mom gave it to me when I graduated HS because I was by then infatuated with modifications (ripping the motor apart on a Friday, putting in a better cam and getting it together by Monday morning so I could drive it to school about made her stroke out) and she could see I loved that truck. I drove it for almost 10 years, built a 454 for it, had a huge lift and 38.5 swampers (what did I know??). I finally sold it after I had brought it back down to 6" with 35's and actually got some good driving manners back. It was beginning to rust at some of the body mounts and in the rockers (it was 16 years old by then) and being recently married, simply didn't have the time or money to continue. Over the years I got into Jeeps but now and then casually looked for another K5. In May, I found Cornfield Creations (from this site) sweet '79 for sale on Ebay. It was built like my bucket list K5. Within a week, I dumped my plans for a new JK, scrapped together the cash, won the Ebay auction, flew to Indiana and drove the thing 1000 miles home. I suddenly was able to rectify my two-decade old regret of selling my '78. That's a long story to say that because of the blood, sweat and tears with your '91, you'd always wish you had kept it. But you still have it, and as has been repeated by many friends on this thread - you have the chance to still make it your perfect K5. I was lucky to find such a nice example this many years later, but if I could find my old '78 and it was still salvageable, I'd make the same effort to get it back. Which is weird because it's just a dumb old truck.
