TBI Engine Replacement

Need some help.

I'm pretty much wired up and ready to go. Need to do some vacuum lines, connect the exhaust, install fuel filter and I should be ready to fire it up. But.......

I was in the cab messing with the old cb radio with my daughter and I started smelling burning wiring. The a/c-heater fan was smoking in the engine bay. I don't know why. Any thoughts?

Some additional info:
- the key was in the on position, but I can't identify at this time if it would have done that with the key off. I suspect it wouldn't have. But I can't test it right now because I have some open fuel lines draining old gas.
- the fan was set to "high," but I realize now that it wasn't blowing. Maybe it's just seized up and the motor was overheating?

It is easy to test the fan motor, bypass the factory wiring and hook it directly to 12V with the body grounded. If it works the problem is wiring, if not, it is the motor itself.

The one in my suburban let the smoke out. It was siezed from years of sitting and mouse nests.

I tested it per Kenny's recommendation. Definitely the fan. That's a relief. Haven't pulled it yet, but will have to soon.

Get a new high blower relay with your new blower motor. The old blower motor probably damaged the current relay. High draw pits and welds relay contacts.

Fired up the truck. Ran ok, but haven't been able to keep it running since. It's flowing way to much fuel. Not sure why. Brand New plugs are now black after less than 5 min run time. Thoughts?

We found the map sensor was hooked up wrong, we fixed that it runs better but need to break in the cam. Colbys build sheet says it's a flat tappet cam. We need to break in the cam and set the timing.

Truck is running pretty good! Took it on its first drive out of my neighborhood this morning, so I'm feeling more and more confident in it. Still needs a variety of small details worked out, but I feel good driving it.

7 years! Too long.
