TBI fuel injector trouble?

I'll let others chime in, but I think that paste may be the opposite of what you want. Pretty sure you want to sink heat from the module into the metal it is laying against. "Thermal paste" or something is what they call it for computer applications. I'm surprised the module wouldn't have come with a little thing of it.

Verify, you've got spark.
Then verify you got the dizzy, #1, on TDC.
Then, we'll see about that towing to another shop.

I sometimes use a 8 inch long piece of straightened coat hanger, stuck in the #1 spark plug hole. Then turn the engine over with ratchet and socket.
When the coat hanger gets pushed out, and the timing mark is coming around, you know you got #1.
Then, line up the big timing mark with the pointer.
That's it!
Pull the dizzy, and drop it back in, with the rotor pointing at #1 cylinder.
You may have to turn the oil pump rod to align the slot with the dizzy.
Apply spark plug wires.
BAM...DONE!

dielectric grease is what i though i needed too.
earlier in this thread someone let me know dielectric grease wasnt the call, it was thermal paste...

sounds like a production, i'll see if i can steal some time to try it today

and if that doesnt work? haha

The thing isn't magic!
If it's got spark, and fuel, and it's even remotely close to timed, it will atleast pop, probably start.

I use dielectric grease, not had an issue. Mastiff is correct. The idea is to get the heat away from the module, and into the actual distributor.
But, you have to verify spark, first, then timing...

Dielectric grease helps in electron transfer for electricity. Thermal paste helps in the transfer of heat. Two different animals.
Right. The JB Weld stuff pictures looks like glue with thermal resistance properties. I'm pretty sure thermal paste is required in this application, and probably pretty critical based on how often newly installed modules seems to crap out.

so clean it off and get dielectric grease. no where around me has the paste, at least i dont see it

If nothing else, go to oriellys, tell them you need the thermal paste for under the ignition module.
If they give you dielectric, GTFO of there. We'll find you some on Amazon, get it delivered tomorrow.

I've heard of people substituting diaper cream. The zinc oxide is what's used in the thermal paste, just not an ideal mixture.

thats exactly what i did this morning
on amazon now

Understand, we're not up your ass about it.
Some of us have done this so often, it's not even an issue.
It's just what we do.
Smile, get that paste, then get that thing running.:)
totally get it
it helps that you guys are constantly giving me new places to look and get this thing going
hoping this spark thing works tonight with that paste
will update here

thanks again!
