Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

teck, beautiful restore!! Love watching your progress.

Flashback.......when you received the dash trim that didn't look right are you talking about the bezel around all the gauges or the silver insert strip with the two ac vents on passenger side? I just ordered the oem dash from them but opted not to get the passenger trim piece as my original one is fairly decent. If the passenger strip looks good in your opinion, i may just pay the $100 to get it. However, they don't have the dash bezel for the 89-91 era with the larger radio cut-out.

The one on the top is the original one.
The one on the bottom is the nos one that I got from Classic Parts. The bronzer one are all anyone has any more in nos.
The dash trim was nos from Classic Parts also.

Looks good! But, am i the only one worried about the powder coating on the hub/rotor surface where they meet? Just seems that the powder might flake off? Maybe im worrying about nothing. But i just figured i would throw it out there.

They said they do them all the time like that with no problems. Only time will tell. I just think it has to be better then painting. Don't want thing rusting later from being left bare.

Im sure it will probably fine. If anything happened i would be shocked. If it did, im sure it still wouldn't be a disaster, just more of a hassle then anything.

Thanks Teck! They did look a little darker to the naked eye but it's hard to tell from a website pick. Your comparo above really shows the difference. I assume you are use to the new one now......

Inspiring!

Rene

Thanks, really starting to fill like I may get to drive it again soon.

My 10yr old son even asked how much longer will it be before it 's running tonight.:D

Shotting for the end of Apirl to have the axles, brakes, drive shafts, steering, transfer case and trans all done and back in.

Then it will be MOTOR time!

Pick up a new front output shaft seal for my 205. Found one at a dealer here, Was told it may be hard to find. All the atuo part stores have is a cheap single lip seal, this is just like the one I took out. It is a double lip seal with 2 springs in it.:D

Got the front shocks cleaned and new bushings and boots on them.

Now if I can just get my tranny guy to call me back with what we need to do to 700R4 things would be better.
