Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

Just some info for the day.
Brought my K5 home from the dealer 25 yrs ago today.

And my laptop just died tonight not what want to spend money on. Was looking for a motor.

epic...

bummer on the laptop.. i hated spending my tax return on a new system..

Work has been busy so not much time to work on the blazer. Just going to keep getting parts while I can. Need to look for a motor real bad, think I'm going to get ls1 of some kind and just go that route.

Did have to get a a new laptop the other night.
also got an order in from summit.

do I see some Ano-tuffs over there? ;)

always good to do the parts build-up, means when ya find time, you'll have tons to choose from! :haha:

They are the black summit AN Fittings and black Aeroquip AN flare to pipe adapters. The box is a grommet set.

And I also think I ordered some the wrong size that I may ned to exchange.

Got the gears set back up in the front housing.

Also found out that I have a good connection on a motor for the K5.
They are looking for a LS 6.2 with low milage (hopefully less then 50K on it.):woot::woot:

Did you install it by yourself? I just pulled off a steering box and it was heavier than I thought! Not sure how I'm going to put it back on by myself..:dunno:

Yes I put it on by myself, it would be much easier with someone helping to hold it while you get the bolts started.

Gathering all the info I can on doing an LS3 6.2 swap.
If I can do this without hacking up my K5, I think this is the direction my build is heading.:pimp:
Just suck that some thing I have already done I will have to do over.:doah:

I cant think of any thing at all you would have to hack up. I THINK that in order to avoid modifingi the frame rail on the passenger side, you have to run expensive S&P headers. And for the A/C, you have to get a high mount bracket but they make a pretty nifty after market one thats not too much money. Other then that, just bolt it in there!

Eh, throw a fresh gasket kit in the 383 and put her on the road already.:D

383 needs a full rebuild, including a crank along with new headers and carb.
So to do LS may not be much different in cost.

Knowing how much "might as well" stuff that you do, it probably would end up being not much more just to do the LS motor that you will be happier with and more proud of in the end any how.

I think the LS3 swap would be way cool, it would really make your truck one of a kind.
