Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

:doah::doah:Wish I had already cleaned and painted all the bolts for the front clip, so I could put it all back together now.
what?!? you didn't powedercoat all of the bolts?? so disappointed...

:D
super shiny man! dead sexy!

lol, the only thing that is powder coated on my truck is the seat where I dropped my donut...

Damn Teck that thing looks so clean it's insane, always like checking out the progress.

Got a little time to work on installing the DBW pedal.

Its out of an 07 express van
It will probably need a plate behind it so I can put 2 bolts at the bottom to hold it tight. It is spaced out about 3/4" at the top but it may need a tad more to get a good angle on it.

Made a plate out of aluminum, then used a small piece of 1" aluminum square tubing to mount the pedal at the right angle I need.

May not look the best, but I think it will show when everything is back in place.

Also talked to S&P again today, hopeful my header will be done tomorrow or Thursday. So maybe I will get them next week.

Teck, I haven't commented lately , but, your truck is absolutley incredible   :waytogo: the attention to detail is without compare and now with the LS swap it has risen to an even higher level of awesomeness !!!!!

I cant wait to see it all done, just make sure to have someone take a picture of the huge smile you are sure to have the first time you drive it :D :thumb:

agreed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have used the 6.5L diesel pedal with LS swaps before and I can attest to it working quite well! You do have to change the connector and pin out on the pedal side of the harness between the pedal and TAC module, but it all works out in the end.

The nice thing about the diesel pedal is that it looks very similar to the factory pedal, and doesn't require any messing around with new mounts etc. Bolt it in, change the connector / pin out and run it!

Mine is a 07 Gen IV and was told the old pedals won't work. The TAC is in computer now.
That pedal wasn't that bad to mount anyways.

Got the headers installed this morning, and they fit :D
Will have to bend the linkage from the column for the tranny just a little bit to clear the back tube on the header. Will also have to modify the oil dipstick tube to fit and get a bolt without a shoulder on it, flange is not cut out enough for it to fit.

The collector on the pass side points at the tranny more then I like, it really could be an inch or 2 farther out there is room, but what do I do about it now?

I'm sure the collector could be modded to work better.. i know that's not what ya wanna hear tho... without seeing it from the side, i would say, just make your first pipe "jog" over a bit... I'm sure if you cut the clamp ring off the collector, cut a slight pie slice off the end, then rewelded the ring on it would do what ya want....

are those SS or ceramic?
