Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

I thought about of doing something like that, 1" zero rate, move the axle 1" forward, heavy duty shackle that will get 1/2". Just looking for about 1" more with no body lift if I can accomplish that.

Will changing the front rear spring hanger to the ones with the bigger bushings help any. I thought I read where some did this and droped them 1 to 1 1/2".

tired of hunting parts that i know i had not long ago and now i cann't find.

I have gotten most of the stuff cleaned, painted and put back on the firewall.
New seat covers were shipped out today from Classic Ind.
Also have the vinyl and carpet to make the new side panels.
So hopfully The interior will be almost done by next weekend.

Talked with a guy that has an '85 or '86 jimmy that is only going to use the running gear out of it. Told me I could have anything I need off it, I just need to let him know. Looks to have everything, Bodys in good shape, just got a quick look at it need to go take a longer look at it and find out what all he is not going to use.

It has the factory rear side planes I have been looking for to use to make new ones. :D :D :D

What's the deal with side panels being so hard to find these days? Has everyone thrown theirs away? I had to drive 1000 miles round trip to get a good pair. Well, not just them, I got the rest of the interior too. Anyway, that's a very nice rig you're building up!

Thanks, I remember yrs ago I tried to get them from GM and you could not get them, so I guess when they got messed up people just tarshed them and didn't know they couldn't get new ones.

Seat cover come, they are the wrong color and don't have the right pattern in the middle insert. Sending them back.

I guess I will be spending more money to got the high dollar factory material that I was told you couldn't get any more, but you can and have them recovered right

Nice work.

What possessed you take a truck that was only 11 years old and completely disassemble it? :eek1:

It get hail damage, soft ball size, so it went a buddy of mines body shop to get fixed and before it got done we had taken it all the way apart to paint all of it. Inside out and the bottom. So it got a whole new front clip and a roof panel, all GM sheet metal.

Wow, that is a really nice truck. I wish I had one like that. Keep up the good work. I was going to chuck my side panels in the rear and finish the Line-X up to the rails since my truck will never be as nice as yours since its a scraped up rusty trail rig, but maybe I will keep them incase I decide to get a nice street truck. I have a surprise headliner I will reveal when its done. :D

Nice truck!

awesome work and the panels look better than factory. you said you put all new GM panels on it? Where did you get them? Seem to be near impossible to find around here for my restoration.

Thanks

It's the original color, 72 apple red.

Yes they are made form 1/4 plywood. Made them year ago and were just covered in grey carpet. So i had them recovered to look like the original ones.

The seats are next. :D

Ordering the original GM fabric by the end of the week.
Man that stuff is high priced.

Got all that about 14 yrs ago, when i got hail on. Its been apart almost that long, at buddy's body shop for about 5yrs, than was covered up in the back of my shop for 8 yrs. It was just a painted empty body in Feb.
