Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

One million thanks!! Just ordered it. I know if I didn't replace that piece it would have driven me nuts. Your truck is a tough act to follow. Like others have said, it looks better than factory.

Your welcome.

Thanks, I just have a way I want it to be, so if it takes longer so be it. I'm not going to cut corner just to get it done sooner.

At least I can now seat in it and listen to the radio and all the lights work.:haha::haha::haha:

Someday I will get to drive it again.

Still not much left to spend on it lately. But I've been polishing the transmission housing and about to go through the 205 and get it cleaned up and powder coated.

Have decided to get the K5 up and running make sure it is all good (sort of a mock build ), Then take back apart for powder coating and paint.

Droped the tranny off today to get done.

Hopful will start the motor rebuild very soon, My motor guy/ good friend wants to get it apart to see what all it will need. He is a awsome motor builder so i can't ask for anyone better to help build my motor.

Thinks to the guys here I got the part # for the hood insulator pad from GM and got one order.

Hopfully I can make some more progress.

Also looks like the friend doing the motor also has most of the stuff to do hydro assit steering so it may be getting that to.:D

Good job on that teck, I think I will start back on mine here real soon. I'm taking the same approach as you are, slow and right!

I want to powder coat the frame and axles, so there some building and working out the changes that have me thinking I need get it running to make sure it all is right before I go to the trouble of powder coating it all

I had to put a plate it some 20 yreas ago when I drove it all the time because it was cracking.

Happy birthday to my K5. I took delivery of it bran new 24 years ago. Bought it for my 20th birthday present to me. I guess that is one reason I still have it.

Happy birthday to you and your blazer! If I were to guess....I bet your Blazer looks more as it did in 1986 than you do. :haha:

Got my disk brake brackets from DIY4X on friday.

Going to order new Headman Headers (69380) and a B&M tranny cooler from Summit today.

So hopfully thing can get going on this thing again.:D

Working on the rear disk brake set up now. Got the new MC today and it fit under the hood without the pad. I think it will be fine with the new hood pad, may leave a mark in it though.

Not alot has happened lately, been getting some of the parts for rea disc brakes.
Got the brakets form DIY4X and new rotors.
Taking them to the powder coat shop monday.
Hope to make some progress soon.

Thing got slowed down more, had to buy a new AC for the house last week. Got the motor apart last week. Found out it will need a new crankshaft, it has already been turned down to 10/20 so its got to go. Don't want rod bearings that are 30 over. Also broke 3 rocker arm studds. The cam looks good. So hope everthing else checks out good at the machine shop. Don't need anymore suprises with this.
