I have a few small things to finish up and do the wiring harness.
Talked to the guy about doing and now he said he would need the truck for about 2 weeks to do it. Not real comfortable with that. So I stop by Painless yesterday and talked to them. Their new harness for a GEN IV is sweet but pricey. The guy said it would talk about 1/2 a day to hook it all up.

SCAREY THING IS IF I COULD HAVE BOUGHT IT DIRECT FROM THEM I THINK I WOULD HAVE WALK OUT WITH IT, BUT THEY DON'T SELL DIRECT TO THE PUBLIC.

I do have a friend checking to seeing if he can get at cost.
my opinion is the painless harness should be renamed painful. there was an issue with pin outs to the wrong place in a harness and engine i helped install. After sending it back once, maybe it was twice they still said it was ok.
it was pretty obvious is was not when a secod same part number harness in the same guys shop for another build was different.
my favorite least headache install harness that ive had in my hands and helped install was the gm e rod harness. its evebn better if you want to run a evap or you can buy the non evap harness. GM quality, smaller pcm, comes with new o2 sensors, throttle body, pedal, maf iirc and detailed instructions and troubeshooting info.
its around 1100 retail but through wholesale it was around 900 iirc or less if you know someone who works at gm. check it out
For wiring it simply piggybacks your current truck harness, you can still use the sendors either electric or mecanical to run your factory gauges with the right metric adaptors or by retapping them.
Lay the harness over the engine with the engine cover off and it will become very clear where it all goes right away.
drill for 2 o2 sensors
ground
12 volt constant
12 volt ignition
mount your data port
use a GOOD engine ground strap
And fire it up.
you can do this wiring yourself and you will have a much better understanding of it, the sensors and what not down the road as a result, also with these engines no NOT pressure wash or hose down around the intake, the knock sensors will give you hell with codes as a result. There is two of them under the intake and behind the foam thingy in a plate that covers the intake valley, it is a common headache unless you silicone them with the intake off.
