Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

Got the new passenger side collector from S&P today. I had them cut it at 12 degrees to point away from the tranny better.

Also install the oil pressure send unit for the factory gauge tonight.

And started trying to work my way through some of the wiring.

If your previous work is any indication of how the wiring will turn out, then i cant wait to see it!

Got a few more small things done today.
Pulled the radiator back out to take to the radiator shop to have a fitting brazed in where the 3/4" heater hose went to hook up the 1/4" steam line from the motor. Installed the new AC condenser. Pulled the water pump off and tapped it for the water temp. sending unit for the factory gauge.

Also started working on mount the computer for the motor.

Hopefully it will turn out good. Ordered a power braid kit from Painless to do the harness in instead of the plastic loom.

Got the radiator back today and installed. Here's how it turned out.

Well that looks pretty good! I will have to call a couple radiator shops and see if they will do that for me.

WTF why am I paying 80 bucks for a fuse block and battery cable from the stealer. If the idiots that pulled my motor would have just unbolt the stuff.
What's wrong with me.

Maybe you are right or I'm just gone crazy over this thing.

LOL I was mostly giving you a hard time. I guess its hard to explain but i know what your going threw and so does alot of other folks. Once you demand perfection from one part of a project, you tend to carry that over to all other parts of it. Yours i believe started with the interior. Then the good old might as well syndrome takes over.

You are just doing what thousands of other car guys do. Look at all these restored/resto-mod cars out there that are full on jaw dropping perfection. They all have the same thought process and mentality as you do right now. So its not exactly crazy, its just more like a "fun" obsession.

I have this theory that its a psychological thing where its a way for your subconscious to gain "control" of something and a having "perfect" element in your life when, again, subconsciously, your brain finds itself lacking in those areas. I think its mostly brought on by stress at work or perhaps a stressful time at home or with family. Not saying that any of that applies to you, just saying that is my theory.

All I gota say is keep up the great work. Its good to see I am not the only one with truck OCC. When I get my red one back its getting the same treatment but an 8.1/4L80E!

Anyway, the reason I think some of this stuff is that i had some tough family stuff going on threw my teen years and I obsessed about trucks threw that time. I think it was my go to for for something that was a tried and true, constructive, solid thing to focus on instead of the confusing stuff I was dealing with and going threw. On a side note, I'm convinced that I'm miss using the word threw. Pretty sure it should be through, or something like that. Obviously it wasn't school work I was focused on in my teen years! LOL

Not much for pic lately. Just been work on the wire harness, cleaning and routing, looming, also mounted the computer tonight. Been going back over thing to make sure they are tight and all good. Filled everything with fluids, checking for leaks (did put one to many quarts of tranny fluid in last night and that made a mess, came out the vent on top). Hoping to get it over to the guy that is finishing the wiring this week.

Need to adjust the body about 3/8" to get it squared back up on the frame, now that the body is all back on.

So it should be fired up an able to move on its own power in the next couple of weeks.:D:D

Yeah, "threw" is past tense for "throw" like what you do with a football. It should be "through". Carry on.

I'm ready too.
Worked on it for 6 hours last night, most wiring stuff. Ever time I think I'm almost got it close, I find more to do.
