Got an email from ORD that the rest of my crossover steering parts shipped today. Should be here on the 5/2.

SSR's or regular radials ? Colby (Colbystephens ) runs 38" SSR's and IIRC has nothing but good things to say about them, I used to run some 36x14 regular radials and for a swamper they weren't bad, much better ride then bias, still sucked in the rain, but much smoother and a little quieter. I've heard the SSR's are even better.



The truck looks awesome :bow: :bow: your K5 defines the term "Better then new" :waytogo:

As far as magazine cover worthy, I'm not sure which mag is worthy of your rig on the cover :D
 
Nice parts. I'm interested to hear how much of a difference the crossover makes for you, especially with the wider tires.

It's had xover steering for years, it was something we made in the early 90's, Not near as nice as this stuff. The Hydro assist is what will make all the difference with the wider tires.

As far as tires go, looks like it will be 38" SSR's.
If they suck in the rain, I don't think That will be an issue because I don't plain on driving it in the rain anyways.:doah:

I think the SSR's are much more street friendly with the extra siping in the lugs. I don't blame you on the rain thing :D, once I get back to my K5, I'm really wondering if I will ever actually put the hardtop on it:dunno: all that work to go full vert I might as well enjoy it :D
 
I know you want to stick with the 16.5" wheels, but if you were able to find a set of 16" wheels, I would recommend the Michelin XML's like I have on my big K5. They aren't that great off road, but go down the highway awesome.

Any know where to get insurance on a lifted K5?
They keep turning down coverage because it has 10" of lift.
 
Not yet But will.
Real bummed at the momount that I have built something and given all these excuses why they don't think they will insure it.
 
Just talked to Hagerty and got a quote. Just have to send pics and fill out the app.
Hopefully they will accept it.
 
Also it's really hard to more get more then $10000 insurance value on a '86 K5
