The 2wd burb thread. Fixed!!!!

2wd big block burb tow rig
Sooo headers. Did a bit more looking. Both exhaust manifolds are cracked. Not bad but they are leaking a tiny bit.

So what's decent out there. I can't spend a ton on em. I'd love some Sanderson headers but those aren't in the budget now. New manifolds look to be around 50 each.

What's decent. I really don't wanna be tightening bolts all the time. I don't wanna blow out gaskets either.

As far as the rest of the exhaust I need to look and see should be simple to do a crossover tube. I like a single exhaust. But will do a dual if easier

So from what I understand these days it's not the headers you worry about. Get some remflex gaskets 28(?) Bucks if I recall correctly for a small block. And get some flexible couplings to weld in Right after the 3 bolt flange.
I bought these. Of course I don't have a review because I am unsure if my truck will actually ever run again in my lifetime. LOL

I don't know pricing and I haven't looked at headers in yrs but I know flange thickness also determines the amount of leaks at the head you will have. Last I know of Hedman had a 3/8" flange and they are a pretty good header. My buddy back in WI has some on a 496 and hasn't had any issues that I know of. His are 2 1/8" primaries and he had to take about 1/2" off the upper frame flange to fit them.
Find some good ones so I can copy you if I keep my crew cab and put headers and new exh on it. It's 2wd with a big block also.

around 93 is what me and Ethan figure from other threads.

88 was the start for the finned housing on 14-bolts. As for the outboard drums I know it's a GMT400 thing but not sure what year .

My 89 regular cab 3500 SRW had a Dana 70 out back , I have had multiple 93 3500 SRW with 14-bolts with out board drums .

Sorry, I was talking rear drums, not the finned center.

We have talked about it several times and it seems like it might have been a mid year 93 change as it seem we have seen 93 14b come with slide drums and some not. But the general consensus is 92 didn't have them and 94 had them.

I already promised to help out on the exhaust so hit me up, and I'll be pulling the whole exhaust out of my 73 this weekend, good manifolds and a crossover. give me a ring

I also have an ever so popular curved mirror option on my passenger side if you want to match those bad baby's up :rotfl:

Allen I actually planned on stopping by next Saturday. I'll give you a shout tomorrow

I may have some regular mirrors that aren't curved if you want to swap to those.

The one thing I will be searching high and low for but will likely be a while before I can afford it is a gear vendors. Cost between a used one and a nv4500 or 4l80 swap might be pretty close
Found a local shop here that does trannys, got a rebuilt 4L60E with a new Tconverter for $850 for my 96. Truck is in Hawaii now, my stepdad says its the smoothest tranny he's ever driven. Reffered some friends there and they put a rebuilt 4L80 in their Burb for $1350 installed. HMU if you want their number

Gear Vendors and a NV4500, then you would have a sweet setup. I have a Gear Vendors in my 98.5 Cummins with a NV5600 and it's the cats meow . My only complaint is not being able to use it in 4wd . Which is not really an issue for you lol.

Dream set up. Nv4500 and a gear vendors oh yes. I'd love that.

My brother in law has a cummins, zf5, gear vendor setup in his Ford. I think he has regeared the top gears and you shift it 1, 2, 3, 3od, 4, 4od, 5, 5od. Keeps it right where you want it rpm wise.

Yah I have towed with several nv4500 trucks ( stock motors). The 3 to 4 shift sucks but with a split would be awesome
