The Beige Jimmy

That Colorado Auto and Parts is real close to my house. Send me a message if you wanna hit it together any time.

Cool picture with the Steiger.

It will be even more photogenic with some non black wheels!

Is Jess around? The two of you can get that top off. I have taken them off by myself, but it’s not fun.

Martin

I can pop that top off with one hand. It's all in the wrist.

As an aside I am going through the exact same emissions struggle in the exact same city. Just a different motor. I might reach out to you with a few questions if you don't mind once I get around to sourcing and installing all that emissions stuff.

So there's a fresh 83 K10 in the Aurora UPNP I hoped would be fruitful for you. It's already pretty picked over after a day or 2 and it didn't look like it had smog equipment when it came in anyway.

Dang, thanks for looking out for me man. Do you have alerts set up? I know some of those yards will e-mail you when a new truck comes through that matches your criteria. I should probably set that up.

I don't and I didn't know that was a thing. I wanted to learn to write code so I could make an alert program just for myself. But I just check their inventory sites every few days.

The forecast is calling for snow on Tuesday, so I figured I should take the top off for some weekend entertainment.

I got it this far by myself, then had my wife hold it upright while I rolled forward.

Did some painting as well. This grill is just a test fit, since I need to JB weld on some mounting tabs. They are all broken off.

I've since installed all the headlamps and am currently running without a grill.

Chinn's Lake is an easy little trail just west of Idaho Springs that I love, so we took the Jimmy out on our first off road adventure this past weekend.

I only got high-centered once, which gave the kids quite a surprise.

All in all, this little buggy does fine off road. Its 2.73 gears and 31" tires are not as bad as i feared they would be, but I'll have to remember to avoid larger rocks in the future.

My XJ had 35s and steep gears and would climb up a wall if needed. The Jimmy just needs a little more planning before attempting to drive over obstacles.

I found this ancient Coors can in the dried out bottom of Chinns. The water level is way down due to the drought, but it's interesting to note that this lake is a tributary of Clear Creek, the water source of the Coors brewery in Golden, Colo. So this little can made it back to its origins, in a way.

I found the now-defunct used car lot the Jimmy was one sold at. It's not far from my house, coincidentally.

That is a great set of photos.

Martin

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Great pics. Kids and Blazers just go together. It's also a good reminder how well these trucks can do without messing with them.

Good point. I've always been somewhat hesitant or nervous about a rig's capabilities if it doesn't have upgraded axles, gears, lockers, and tires. This trip proved to me that you can have a ton of fun in a stock rig without spending a bunch of money. I fall more in love with this tank every day.
