The Beige Jimmy

I have never come across a GM spring pack that had 3/8” spring pins. They always have 5/16” spring pins.

I use a die grinder to open the spring pin holes to 3/8” on the springs. They are too hard to drill.

I believe it's a scratch from something, not a crack.

Almost got it back together with new brake pads, hoses, and when I went to test the bleeders, the passenger one broke off.

Cool.
Quick run to O'Reillys to get some EZ Outs and bleeder screws.

Then the EZ Out chewed up and split the metal that remained sticking out above the surface of the caliper.

Cool cool cool.
Quick run to Home Depot to get longer EZ Outs, a cold chisel, and a torch.

This little devil just doesn't want to come out. I've exhausted my EZ Outs, ate through much of the fitting and caliper, and my patience.

Cool cool cool, tight tight tight.

So now I'm going to make a quick run across town to get a caliper. Gotta get this tank back together tonight to get to work tomorrow.

That happened to me in 2002 working on a wagoneer that I was sitting in a field for 9 years.
I went through the exact same steps.
Ended up with new calipers

Fighting the drag link now, next is the sway bar. Do I really need it?

I sure hope the alignment is close enough.

Back on the road.

Apparently you don't need the following:
-Sway bar
-C-clips behind the lockout hub inside the housing. My '84 axle didn't have them, but this '90 axle I swapped in did. @82355 and @80' 427 to the text rescue yet again.

I got it together in about 10 minutes once I had proper instruction.

No change since my last report. It's still my daily commuter while I continue to not do anything on the engine for the Caprice sitting in my garage.

Need some help from you guys, and fast. It's Sunday afternoon and light is fading quickly, and this is my ride to work tomorrow.

Friday morning drove to work early in the dark, headlights work as normal. Go to leave work in the sunny afternoon, no headlights. Weird.

I've replaced the headlight switch and high beam dimmer switch to no avail. Still not getting voltage to the headlights.

Parking lights, turn signals, and dome lights have worked the whole time though.

I've heard fusible links can cause this problem, so I pulled them off the positive lead on the starter and checked for continuity on both sides of the fusible link. Both have continuity, so what is causing my headlights to all be dead?

I'll check the grounds.

Forgot to mention that my lights had been stuck on high beams for months since the high beam switch stopped working. The bulbs aren't blow, since I'm not getting voltage to the light plug connector.

Check the junction block up on the firewall also. Above the motor.
Might be another fusible link there.
