Been tracking a lot of other forums with FITech users. Seem to be a higher than what I find acceptable failures just past the warranty period on hard parts and ecm without much manufacturer support, and the units seem to be drawing a large amperage from the battery ina short period of time. Now granted there are users on here that haven’t experienced those issues. Maybe they are user caused or a specific manufacturing period that has some issues

I see no need to spend $1000 for something that in a year I will have it invest more money to keep operational

In terms of total power output, I can get that out of the TBI with the 454 throttle body. I can data log it if the tuning needs adjusted

If I find in a period of time that I cannot get my injection to operate as I need, I still have the option to move to an aftermarket unit that exhibits good reliability

@dyeager535

Got home and checked the fuel pressure. Maintains 13.5 from idle to wot (on a ep381)
Before it would idle at 13.5 and drop to 12.5 (using a GM ep241)

Man I need to catch up in this thread! I totally get why you want to keep the factory stuff, this is also one of the reasons I went to a LS cause it was far better then aftermarket at the time.

That being said the Holley kits have caught my eye but man they are expensive.

Yeah the non-entry level kits are more expensive for sure.

Using this engine the best injection set up is probably a TPI like on and LT1/LT4 minus the opti spark

Do you have the gear to flash your own chip for the tbi? The self learning feature of the aftermarket injection sounds really attractive, too bad the durability is in question.

No I’m planning on data logging it to see where I’m at. I may do my own chip burns later or use a 7427 computer and a mass air

@Scribbles

I want this knowledge of data logging and so forth. My 454 runs okish with no EGR and such, but I imagine with the raised compression, bigger cam and intake it's probably not as good as it could be.

Did you have/do a chip for it?

Lol. No. Just a stock 454 chip. I even ran it on a 350 one forever.

All I ever did was install a JET adjustable regulator and turn the fuel pressure up until at full throttle the O2 millivolts were a hair on the rich side and called it perfect.

**TANGENT**

Only the first year or two of LT1's had batch fire, I think that was gone by 1994 or so. '94-97 are mass density, MPFI I believe.

Must be about right. I had a 6-93 built 94 model year that was MPFI with mass

Ordered a 18 psi spring, high output coil, new wires, and a higher pressure gage

So I was derelict in my photo dooties last weekend. Here are two from once it got home. The fender i was cheating over to keep the passenger side of the rock and when the truck pushed I had no room. All driver error

This fun little cookie was all tire, driver side rear

Had humpage in the axles, t case skid. Not a scratch on the fuel skid

Did that rear tire get torn up in your wheel well?

Wish you were closer, I’d give you a front fender.

I didn’t see any damage on that tire, but didn’t go over it too close.

I’ll be at Blazer Bash if you come that way. I’ll trade you a case of whatever cold beverage you are into
