Yeah I know.
I looked at the wagon wheels. Only ones I could find were new and $40 a wheel more.

Did you look at 15" wagon wheels? The picture posted looks a LOT like what I bought for Big Blue a few years ago.

15x8, 6-lug GM pattern. $35 total retail price from my local trailer shop (new). Hard to imagine paying 40 extra dollars for this most basic of patterns.

17x9 so I can get into that Plentiful 37/12.5/17 tire selection. I did also check the weight specs to avoid the trailer wheels.
Probably would have felt differently about the spec on a street only truck

Enough about wheels

This is my cut line for the outer skin. Pull everything straight back until the lip is flush with the inner wheel well. Re melty and fab a chunk for the hole created over the wheel

looks simple enough, most others I've seen the cut is more vertical but not sure that matters with the contour of the sheetmetal.



and have you thought about buying wagon wheels instead? :deadhorse:

What are you going to do w/ the lip at the top, where the 2 pieces will be separated?

Snuck the cut off wheel inside the lip to do this

Hand fab a small piece and blend it in

Got the seems welded up and the gap filled.
Need a small patch inside the wheel well.
Maybe mud soon

Nah, need a donor Fender. But I want to. The line on the drivers side is much cleaner and natural looking than the hack job I did on the rusted out passenger side
