Plan for this weekend:
ARB install for the rear
Fix new front driveline that was made wrong
Figure some kind of retrieval point on both ends (peanut gallery suggestions requested)
Start screwing in sensors and widgets for the TBI
 
Writing it off as a communication error.
He made it collapsed length the measurement I need for operating length.
My buddy who is my gear guru has a lathe. Headed there Saturday. Going to shorten it myself rather than drive an hour, wait, and drive an hour home.
It's not beyond what we can do!



I will have to see if I left enough room on the side of the frame to sneak something like that in. My sneaky stealth bumper doesn't have a good place for a hook!
 
Any room to run something bolted to the outside of the frame and through the bumper and run clevis shackles?

Just looked, should be enough meat (~5") to get 1 decent bolt and 2 mediocre welds on something. Didn't want another hole in the bumper, but might have to.
In that case, probably paint the tab for the clevis silver and leave the clevis in the tool box until it needs it
 
My thoughts:

1) bolt through the frame, .75" x 1.5" steel with clevis hole.
Pro- I can weld it to the "pre-runner" plate for extra support
Con- hanging down @ angle

I like the idea of leaving the clevis off until needed, but that may be from my days running heavy wrecker.
But I don't like listening to them clank, and if you want them to stay on, you have to tighten them, so then if you need to hook a loop end strap to it, must go get a tool or another clevis.
Just my 2 pesos. ...
But , yeah, the higher mounting point may offer more clearance at the expense of more holes.
But I think that I know where your factory tow hooks are...
I scuffed them on 21 Rd a couple of weeks ago.

Those are mounted high, were you rock humping?

Those hooks did not come off of this. I just got screwed. Should I call GM and complain?
 
I just try to make sure that the rocks are going to stay put. .. it's not that I didn't have the correct angle!

But the factory hooks would hang too low, so GM saved you from the labor of moving them!

Backup the bumper with some plate across the width of the frame rails and bracketed to the frame. Then use a bolt on anchor point like the H2 d-rings bolted thru the bumper and backup plate.

CUCV's use a receiver type setup bolted to the frame rails. Maybe do something similar.
 
I've thought about fabbing a bracket to go outside the bumper that uses the existing bumper bolt holes (then I can run a clevis through). I agree with Dave, I want it removable

Then it's still tied through to the frame
 
I like the overall idea here a lot. I'm really trying to come up with something useful. I'll be pondering this
