Does yours have any provision for support under the rear case? That is all I have. A stock crossmember. I think people get unnecessarily carried away with doubler cross members.

Just considering options. And bite me@bent72 don't forget that I told you yesterday on the phone how the one that I have here, which was installed by ORD just has 2 factory crossmembers under the cases.
Just in case your memory slips.....more....
early days of gm trucks our vintage you could get factory skid plate . 2 crossmembers and a thick plate between the 2 . and a set of L-brackets on the rear one if it was a short bed or blazer to hold the 2nd crossmember .I've got a setup somewhere that came off a truck I parted out where they used two factory crossmembers and a homemade(I'm guessing) steel skid plate under a 205 tcase. I need to dig it out and see if it will work for my 208 on my blazer instead of the crappy aluminum one it has. I'm worried that I will drop it on a rock someday and crater it. I would just go the simple route like @82355 suggested and get it going.
I'm thinking maybe I've seen that setup on my father-in-law's 75 K5.early days of gm trucks our vintage you could get factory skid plate . 2 crossmembers and a thick plate between the 2 . and a set of L-brackets on the rear one if it was a short bed or blazer to hold the 2nd crossmember .

I see...I believe it came off a '76 3/4 ton longbed. thanks for the info.early days of gm trucks our vintage you could get factory skid plate . 2 crossmembers and a thick plate between the 2 . and a set of L-brackets on the rear one if it was a short bed or blazer to hold the 2nd crossmember .
Should we crap up your thread?I thought we were supposed to get a 'dislike' button..
I have a truck and trailer that could get it moved. Not going to pull the tranny until we are done moving. If something doesn't work right, I don't want to have to figure out how to move it.
I do need to change the alternator, and will probably put the larger throttle body on it before we move
Thanks!Good luck on your moving and everything!![]()
Appreciate it, but think I'll stick with this plan. Already have 2 weekends tied up in April, and the garage is full of boxes already.I have a truck and trailer that could get it moved.
