Shit my wife and kids cost me plenty. My wife has me buying a horse for my son that is turning 6 this weekend. I don't see this being a cheap thing to get into. Oh and I'm working on buying a 29 acre farm that will also need a house built on it.

As an owner of a single horse and no farm, I'd like to welcome you to the "Poor For The Next 20 Years Club". :sign28:

Something tells me Bent knows how to build a stout small block. As big of a fan as I am of the LS swap, I know the expense from the fact of doing it. And mine was done with a freebie engine (yes high mileage), but it's all the ancillary parts and pieces that add up quick. If my 91 came to me with a TBI 350 like it was built with, I'd probably still have it in there and still be in savings mode for the LS swap. I just had to bite the bullet since mine had no engine. So MAW swap in the 5.3 right?

I'm probably going to still going to switch from running a MEFI4 controller back to a GM 0411 PCM due to lack of tuning support for the MEFI4 platform. Which will dictate a complete engine harness change. But at least by running the GM PCM I can use a standard Tech2 scan tool or any aftermarket OBD2 adapter and an app on my phone or Ipad. Bottom line is more $$$$.

LS is a steep learning curve for sure. If you are more comfortable running the OG SBC then run it. Money saved on adapter brackets, LS specific accessories, harness, Controller and refreshing a LS, you can buy some killer heads and run a better aftermarket self learning TBI system for a great torquey stump pulling SBC.

Looking to spec build something identical to the zz4/ct355 crate engine (that’s no longer avail). I like the 400+ lb/ft from 1500-4000, all in the usable operating range.

The ZZ4 has been replaced by 2 or three versions by now. But the specs should be pretty easy to replicate. I'd kill for 400 lb/feet at that kind of RPM. Pretty sure I saw the tach swing past 7 grand on last weeks snow run. I know it's capable to spin that fast but it's unsettling when you aren't used to spinning a small block that fast.

Yeah most of those newer versions are HP based and shift the power curve up. Not really what I need.

I remember the first time I heard Clint Neff’s C/ED car at Bandimere hit the 12.5 stop on the 2step rev limit.
I believe I said holy f$ck

I’m sure you could do it, once

:haha:
I’ll tell you what. If I ever swap the blazer to ls and someone wants to see this sbc wing to the moon.. send me some off shelf crazy solid flat tappet cam and I’ll stuff it in and run it until the crank falls out into the sand with the pedal through the floor.. just to get the one vid at 8500rpm
