Amazing what we call crusty around here guys back east are drooling over calling it mint. Good progress!!

I’m one of those people. I just bought a truck that has absolutely no bed floor due to rust and I’m happy because the frame survived. Living in the rust belt drastically skews my vantage on rust

It does make me feel guilty about just slamming the engine back in without doing some surface rust removal and paint.

Great progress but that fan is killing me, how does that engine stay cool with a 4 blade fan? :dunno:

It’s a stock engine that you’re pulling out right Mark? If so I can easily understand how it never gets hot

I don't believe that it is stock.
But those fans move a decent amount of air, and without A/C, and him keeping RPMS up, all good!

Engine is 10:1 with a cam, but no headers, the cylinders are standard bore, and it’s not a bbc. So the normal head problems are not there.

The motor that's coming out is 10:1 ? If so, why the change?

165k is what I’ve figured the mileage on the bottom.
Has some oil control problems. Looked at rebuild, but I’m also trying to get away from these iron heads due to knock control with the injection.

It’s still a better engine than most people install

Fresh engine is 9.76:1

I love you too Mark, I shit you not. We're like 2 turds in a bowl. :poo: :D :poo:

Look at the bright side, it'll be so much longer before it starts the factory installed oil leaks. Welcome to the Dark Side. :thumb:
Welcome to the dork side?

You’re not a very good welcome committee when the engine in the truck now is black, and the last orange one I had Dave broke. Like a turd bowl
