So true. I don't know of anybody around here that has used both systems at all much less on the same engine. It's interesting to see your findings.Well I can at least A-B comparison the two systems

That’s for the gas thieveswho is steeling gas when its so cheep these days ?
Drive it to the station, no issues. Put 20 fresh 91 octanes in it, and readjusted the idle screw to reset the IAC at 5
No funky tape and hold your tongue to one side to set it holley wants me to do this next
Drove it easy down the county road to get a feel for it. Needs a light return spring, throttle is pretty light and easy. Too easy. easy fix with stiffer spring over the other units short arms and super stiff springs
Little lazy but not bad. Smooth, no weird spots in the RPM range. Gave it some throttle going up the county road. Could already feel some adjusting had occurred. Ran it up to the state highway and pulled off. Checked for leaks.
Return loop, just more putt putt back to the stop sign and turned. All primary throttle, up to 5k clean, paddled a few gears and ran it up to 75. Barked out the exhaust on the 1-2, but that was it in terms of issues on the drive
Hammered it off the light, pulled to 6k, cleaner and more firm than the first pull. Downshifted it hard from 3-2 up to 5500, no issues
All this on the base setting. I made no changes other than setting the timing and aforementioned idle screw just WOW is all i can say after reading this
Way easier to set up and use than the Holley. Already runs and idles clean. I’ll be curious to see if/how it improves with more miles, at 20 right now glad to here this info on setup and running quality

For those era cars I’d convert it to a mass air and a 7427 computer so you can use Tuner ProThat long term is quite a bit off. Hopefully that will come down some.
As an aside, I ran across this a few months back when I was looking at 3rd gen Camaros. Not sure what ecm is in the tbi systems here but it definitely makes tuning easier. Guy replaces the prom chip w/ a flashable setup and some software so you can tune just like a modern car.

EmissionsThat conversion does use Tuner Pro, they're even working on a self-tuning setup.
I don't believe the Edelbrock retains control for emissions equipment does it? AZ people at least, still have to pass emissions - even run those stupid rollers here, as well as visual. Hate those bastards..
Sorry about the side track, was just pointing out options for others that may be curious, cheaper than Edelbrock but more work.

Well we are hoping. Two guys on board already and several others close to having them runningGlad you got her going again. Hopefully you all with all this fancy EFI stuff figured out so when I go to it you have all the kinks worked out.

I'll have to pull the intake to seal the valleys again anyway maybe I'll feel froggy... Glad your up n runnin
No used the edelbrock gasketsI like what you did to it. Am I understanding correctly that you used the vortec gasket then? It looks as if they were a better fit than the Edelbrock ones. Or is it more similar than it looks?
I still believe that your pictures would be a whole lot better with Mrs. Bent's hands in them!

Dust wasn't a concern, I stripped the intake. After I was finished I used the vacuum, then the air compressor.Did you hand file it to keep aluminum dust out of the intake?
I feel like I, have to, do this now just so I can use a black sharpie.
thats not very professional of someone in your position
