Not sure I know many ford guys...

So this engine is the evolution of the ZZ3-6 crate engines. Those we ran at the drag strip did not run faster at 40 than they did at 36, for whatever that is worth

Having said that, GM recommends 36. Obviously going to fuss with it a bit and see

Dave and I talked a bit about this. I'm mostly against messing with the settings a bunch early in the game of tuning. The base map is really still learning the engine for awhile, and I'd like to be able to determine what effect the timing tuning does. Best way to do that is to get that base map mostly dialed

But it felt soft so I added some
:haha:

For reference, it took about 500 miles for the Sniper to self tune and be at mostly single digit on the fuel learn

I'm not saying 40 degrees of timing is better then 36. Just that it could be better...

After you get the rest figured out you could play with it.

Yeah that’s the theory. It’s not like the old days of getting the light out and 9/16” and doing the routine

Open the app and link it to the ECM. Hit two buttons and start it. Easy

Yeah, but you still have to get the light out to make sure that when the ecu says 28, it really is 28. Etc....makeing sure the trigger offset and coil latency and all that jazz are compensated for.

I figure its easy to check once later. For little fussy things I'm not too worried

Aren't those heads one of the faster burning heads? Thought they should actually need less timing as the flame front propagated faster, not needing all that advance?

Out of curiosity, what are you LTFT's at right now?

Yes on the fast burn, and probably won't gain much on the timing, truth be told

I don't have a base number for the "block learn" (probably do but not super familiar with it yet) like a TBI. Seeing single to mid teens in the low to mid range, except ~ -20 at idle

This is probably why Dave had to add back in for cold starts

Wow, 20's on factory gm is getting to the limit - I think they only go up to 25, imagine edelbrock's limit prob not too much farther. Need to get some more miles on this, curious how long it takes to flatten out.

Does your currently leak when sitting or only when driving? I’ve noticed mine primarily leaks when moving and when I park on a incline it runs off my belly pan.

It leaves a 2” spot when parked

And coats everything when running

I’ll keep this and the case thread updated. Going to Mic everything and see if we learn something about the tolerances
both my 205s leak. Before and after the billet retainer and new seals. The k5 even has a new yoke. Still drips:angry1:

and i am super close to purchasing my setup . pro flo 4 almost in my truck . . . :woot:

been watching these few mebers close to see the real world feedback .

i talked with a guy on the edelbrock forum with over 1k miles on a 440 mopar and he has not done any adjustments / every time he drives it he says its better than the last / throttle pedal fells stock unlike sniper stiff / progressive link is super nice already on it / said he hasnt noticed any worse fuel mileage after the swap so it must be the same or better .

I should check with Edelbrock and see what they recommend when long term is in the mid 20s. I have seen mine go over 25% intermittently and the readout will turn red.

I like the progressive much better. I'm sure the first tank will be throw away, so not really worrying about how I drive if ya know what I mean

@Bent77 figure it out for us. I have new seals and a yoke. I think he’s onto something with bearing slop.
I wanted to pull it today, but I wasn't finished with the swingset until late afternoon
I'll leave the case in it until after my next on call stint, which starts Monday. Probably 2 weeks out

This work crap is cramping my style, but I refuse to have it down for that long when I don't even have time to work on it

im slowly catching up on this thread since my hiatus, but damn this things looking good! maybe ill crush another 50 pages today
Well I did a lot of thread clean up, not sure where you are in the thread.
I am re-doing all the links on the first post, so the good stuff goes straight to the start of that topic

I did notice that, and it definitely helped me find where i last was in this build. So thanks for that  . Im going through all your rust repair right now even though i had read it before. Wanting to tackle some of mine again, so im finding the motivation in seeing others achievements. Im also catching up on the last 75 pages or so as theres tons of cool stuff going on!

Sorry for the train wreck. There is a lot of off tangent but still good tech stuff in this mess

But the index helps skip to the point!

haha yea, plus as someone like me who has SO much to learn. Reading through all the questions, ideas, and answers helps me learn so its worth the read.... and the laughs!
