Swapping in the HP D44 tomorrow. Have some fab work to do on the drivers side perch and the steering stabilizer. Have some work to do on the steering to fix a leaky box and change out the rag joint.
Driveshaft will need shortened and gears changed out.
Found an early knuckle to match my flat top, thus the tie rod will be level instead of over under.

Weel see how much gets done.

Are you going to be swapping in a 2 wheel drive box then I'm guessing? My blazer steering box leaks badly out the seal where the steering shaft goes in. Are they easy to reseal?

After all of that work, would not it have been easier to swap transfer cases?

Mine do already have a 2wd sector shaft. Leaking from the top. So I get to pull it all apart

Mark... Sometimes you say things that really make me angry... AT MYSELF!!! Lol I have a leaky 2wd box and a 4wd box that doesn't leak... Do the sector shafts interchange??? I didn't even think about this...

Yes. But don't ask me how.

Last time I had a steering gear apart was 14 years ago. I was in high school still. Didn't pay attention to much of anything then.

Ah jeeeezzz... You're old like me. As long as the parts interchange I can probably get it figured out.

Axle cleaned, ground, painted.
New DS knuckle cleaned wire brushed and painted.
New ball joints in (free courtesy of parts leftover from my sisters Jeep spare parts stash)
