good to know for a future project (one day i want a 67 vette in SCCA trim with a DZ302 under the hood, which always seemed like that engines more natural home than the Z28), but I aim to have a 6.2 turbo under the hood of my K5 at some point, and taking that single outlet turbo pipe and splitting it at the firewall to come down to side pipes just seems a bit unrealistic. :(

I just built full 3" duals behind my stock high mile TBI 350. I used the Super 44's.

Yes single 3" might be better, but this truck will be getting a big block in the future...

I have the flowmaster super 10's on my truck. Very very loud, and very very annoying. I can't talk to anyone in the truck and can't hear my music without cranking it up where my ears bleed. Your best bet is to just get a mildlr aggressive muffler and enjoy:)

Dynomax super bullets.

cool sounding muffler and barely a muffler, more like a mellower.

If you want super loud and mellow use some cone inserts instead of mufflers but be aware its just barely quieter than open headers. It really mellows out the sound though. I got asked alot if I had a big block and it was a stock small block

I took a chance back when I had my Camaro, bought a Hooker Aerochamber muffler for it. Honestly, I found I prefer the Hooker muffler over the Flowmaster, it didn't have that tinny, canny sound that Flowmasters tend to have, just a nice mellow rumble tone, got alittle louder when on the throttle hard, but never annoying.

I heard a Borla system on an uncle's truck. Awesome sound, nice quiet rumble at idle, cranked out the tone when rev'd.

With 3in true duels back pressure can be a problem. I have 2 1/2 true duels and you can here them pop when the idle comes down after I rev it. You may be ok if you can fit an H pipe but its real tight underneath

That just sounds like over-run/back fire, I doubt it has anything to do with fuel/air mix. I had a wrx Subaru impreza that had an aftermarket exhaust system that used to do that. It had no cat on it also.

Yes, with an "H" pipe, aka balance tube. Makes a huge difference. In the vid it hit 4500 rpm+ and no rapping as the rev's die off. I've had more than a few dual systems with flowmaster's and no balance tube and they all did that rapping BS on decel. I was hoping the balance tube would eliminate that, so I'm pretty happy with it right now.

So would a single 3" system with a dual 2.5" tailpipes.. :D

I've had 2 cars setup like that, they sounded awesome and no popping exhaust.

Although, the exhaust on the Avalanche is mostly stock, except for a Flowmasters 50 series cat back system, and during some deceleration and downshifting, it'll give some muffled gurgling/popping, not the ugly sounding popping though :D

So a balance tube will stop that. Where did you put the tube at?

I put it right below the output on the T-case. It's about even with the bottom of the frame.

so how did the welding go with the aluminized Rene'? looks good, what did you do for metal prep, and what were your welder settings?

Welded right through it...and I almost always have the machine dialed to 11. :haha:

Seriously I have the voltage at 8 (scale to 10) and wire speed at 60 (scale to 100) pretty hot for exhaust tubing, but burns through the aluminzing nicely. That's on a Miller 135.
