The Camper Thread

Wow that is crazy. That's what I was fearing with the last camper I had. Luckily that camper is gone now.

Had some financial stuff come up and probably going to wait until next year. The plan is to buy one without a loan.

There was a guy at the Muscle car show today in a 68-72 chevy c30 class c running the 1/8th mile drag strip and the banked race track. 26 second 1/8th mile. Wish I had my camera.

I picked up this 2002 Fleetwood RV Outfitter toyhauler style slide-in camper in March. It's still at my brothers house in CO, but next month I'm picking it up and bringing it back to my house. I had never seen a camper like this ever, so when I saw it, I knew I had to have it! I always hated the fact all the slide-in's have bathrooms (to me, you don't take a dump in a slide-in...it's for sleeping and getting out of the weather...maybe to cook in too...but to each their own). So I always felt like the bathrooms was a waist of space. So when I found this setup, it was perfect for me, as I go on at least one trip a year where I tow my blazer, but also bring my dirt bikes...this allows me to do both :saweet: . And it's light...only 1600 lbs dry...so that is really nice.

Few things I want to do to it...get it setup with dual batteries (just one now), get a propane setup on it now to run a portable stove along with a portable heater (no furnace in this thing...one of the only downsides until I get it setup), and possibly figure out a fridge (right now it's an ice box, but doesn't work, so would like to maybe rip it out and install an actual fridge, but will just use coolers for the time being until I figure out what I want to do). Other than that it's good to go with no leaks and in really good shape. There is actually tons of storage space all throughout it which is nice too. Just the space alone cause of the layout is worth it's weight in gold to me. Well...let me know what you think.

I’d the insulation gets old and falls apart. My slide-in is 60’s vintage and the ice box can’t keep two 20lb bags of ice longer than a morning during the summer. Might as well throw them out on the ground

Cool, thanks! I've found a few places that seem to carry pretty much the same thing, so I'll pick up a set for mine. The fact they just bolt up to the bed without drilling is very beneficial for me...since I have a few trucks that my camper will potentially go into, it will be nice to have a set of those brackets just stay with the camper, and whichever truck it'll go into I just hook the brackets up real quick (instead of having to install fixed mounts onto each truck). Thanks for the info!

Not that I switched trucks a lot, but the no drilling aspect appealed to me for removal when I was using the truck to do other truck things. Didn't always want those brackets hanging out on it. Only had 1 head injury, but didn't like them sticking out. :doah:

I need to take my camper out. Last and only time we used it was koh. Work is killing my not having the same days off as the wife
