The Green Machine - parked

Looks fanfreekintastic! Just run it and worry about sagass later.

I think with all your other upgrades and a zero rate it would look perfect.

Again very nice work sir.

Awesome!

I agree that the back is too low, but it really isn't something that matters much. Just enjoy it. And get that driveshaft installed!

Don't you have a big bumper to go on the front of it? Shouldn't that weigh it down?
Kinda... there is a guy just down the road from Keith's house that has a TJM offroad bumper that I really really want, but he's not interested in selling it, and Russell has that ARB bumper that he might let me have, provided he figures out what he's going to do with Penny. So no, not right now, but I might.

Nice job Riley! I still remember seeing your rig at my place when you stopped by. It looked so innocent then...now it looks ready to tackle some serious trails!!

Hey Riley - Now that you're out and driving this thing around, I think you should update your signature to reflect the changes. :waytogo:

The front springs are a bit stiff, not gonna lie, had to double check to see that I didn't get the HD springs instead of the EZ rides. When I first started driving it last week, the front had almost no give whatsoever, speed bumps were torturous. But after a week and a couple hundred miles they're settling down some, but are still stiffer than the rears, but the rear springs have nearly 230k on them...

That's interesting. I have never heard anyone else complain about a harsh ride with those Springs. Maybe the shocks?

Same shocks as the rear, so I doubt they're the issue.

Question: I have a bit of death wobble, mostly when slowing down around 30-40 mph, and it wanders some as well. I know all the steering joints are nice and tight. On Monday I took it to my mechanic to get the speedo recalibrated, and I asked him about it, and he suggested a track bar (Panhard bar) His reasoning is that a crossover setup is very sensitive to any movement of the axle sideways and a track bar will prevent that movement, thus eliminating the death wobble and wanderiness. What is everyone's thought on that?

Also, the springs have settled down quite a bit, but they're still stiffer than the rears, and hopefully they get softer still. It sits nearly level now, even without a zero rate in the back. I'm still going to put one in though.

Also, the 315's I originally went with were just too big for my liking, so I went down to some 295's, Hankook Dynapro's. With my old setup, (265's with 3.73 gears) I was doing 2,000 rpm at 70 mph, now with 295's and 4.56 gears I'm turning 2,300 rpm at 70. Not bad, definitely has more getup than before, but still too soon to know how badly fuel economy will be affected.

If I load it up with anything the back will sag, and I don't want that. Remember this is a future family hauler/overland rig, so big loads are part of the deal.

Except death wobble had nothing at all to do with axle movement, that you are not getting because you have leaf springs.
