The Green Machine - parked

I need to replace the front springs because they're garbage, and since the rear are doing this, ord is going to be happy with me when I place my order for 4 new springs, costing around $1600, but that should be very worth the cost.
We should order at the same time! Maybe there will be a discount?

I am running a 1" zero rate, and a piece of 2-1/12" X 1/2" piece of T6 aluminum that I cut down to 5" long. I ground down the sharp edges, and drilled a 3/8" center hole in it, in order to bolt it into the spring pack.

Could that clearance-ing be related to the shifting of your axle? You had a difference in gap fore/aft right?

It's possible, but I don't think so. The springs have a nice "s" going on and I can watch the rear tires move quite a bit when I put it in gear in low range. I think the springs have just broken down to the point where they're basically just holding up the truck and not much else. The blocks and zero rates moving the axle away from the spring doesn't help any... The only way this self clearancing problem could happen is if the axle twisted far enough for the yoke to make contact on itself. That's a lot of axle wrap.

I'll try to video what I'm talking about this afternoon if I get a chance.

I'm not too sure about this, but in low range, having the axle move that much just by putting it into gear seems a little excessive.

Sumtingwong.

I think all of your statements on aged worn out springs has merit. Plus the combo of block/zero rate is adding more leverage at the spring.

I didn't win anything this year, got completely skunked, if I want to win I've got to drop a couple hundred dollars like the guys that win do.

I got this from GRS Drivelines in South Salt Lake. It's pretty well built and very nicely balanced, I can hardly notice it at 45 mph, which the old shaft, even when new, felt like it was going to launch itself clear of the truck.
