The headache build..

hmm...seems like the hard part is already done (tapping the box and reinstalling it)...couldnt take an hour or so to weld up some tabs and hook up some hoses, im sure you can pull it off.....at any rate, good luck gettin your rig finished for memorial day...take some good pictures!! :D
There is so many small things I should be concentrating on, getting the ram mounted would be luxury. Hell, I thought I would be getting this thing going last Friday.
Anyway, I got my gages wired and mounted(mostly, I'm waiting for some wire for the transmission temperature gage.). Bend one of my transfer case shifters because it was hitting my Art Carr shifter. Put in a battery and gasoline. I adjusted the toe-in, still need to adjust the drag link. Then I fired this beast up and proceed to fix leaks. I think I got all the transmission cooler leaks fixed, but the fuel leak on back of the carburetor is still there. I think after sitting for a year, the carburetor gaskets had dried up. I'm trying to get a friend to look at it sometime this week. That fuel leak prevented me from taking the Blazer to the dunes.
However, I got it out of the hole on the side of the house and on to the street.
Hmm, It does not look like I didn't lift the blazer that much. I don't mind; I rather have it a little low than too high.

Even if you don't get it done in time I've got extra room in my crew cab if you want to cruise the dunes and watch the madness with us...
I'll PM you my cell #... we're getting there Friday night and we'll be there until Saturday night.

It is going to be out there (I hope). I got the fuel leak fixed and I got half of my 33" tires mounted. I'm having problems with the 14bsf 14mmx1.5 studs and the shank style lug nuts with my mag wheels. I may have to fix the front axle pinion seal and have the rear drive line re-shorten. The drive line only has 1" of slip before it bottoms out.:eek1:

Still have a little bit of wiring left to do, but I got my wheels and tires mounted.

I love those rims! If I ever had to change rims on my Blazer, that's the rim I would replace them with...

Thanks, it was hard to find those rims. I search for two or three years before I found a set. There used to be a time where the slot mags were everywhere.
Edit-I wants to compare pictures of my old 73 from 1994 to my current 74.

These are the same tires, but I changed the rims.

Same here with my stock steelies, it took me 6-7 years to finally stumble across a full set. Hard to find.

I'm off to wreck my blazer.

OOPs, I mean I going to the dunes now. I have pictures on Sunday afternoon.

Dad and I just rolled back into town... sorry we never had a chance to meet up. Next time we're headed over I'll let ya' know.
Let's see those pics! :)

This dent actually happened before I raced the silver truck.

This is the damage after the jump at the end of the race with the silver truck.

I was in such a hurry to get going Friday I grabbed my brother's battery and racket strapped it to my battery tray because it didn't fit right. Saturday night I lost the battery while racing at Comp Hill. My bother and I searched for hours looking for it. The battery was at the top of the hill with only the top showing and with a mangled rachet strap. The battery must have been run over a dozen times before we found it. This is an expensive battery and I did not want to lose it again so I put it in the cab and told the passenger to hold it down with his feet. I used a Vice Grip to clamp the ground on because the cable clamp got ripped off.

I ran the cables through the fire wall where the wires for heater blower motor goes though. I cut up a water bottle to use as a grommet.

This is the fix I did in camp the next day. I went Miners' Ace hardware and bought 1/8" x 3/4" angle iron, a 5/16" all-thread, 5/16" hardware and a hacksaw. My friend Jimmy actually bought a drill and bits with him. I cut two pieces of angle iron and drilled holes at the ends. I bend the tab at the back of the tray up and the battery fitted in. I used the angle iron on the top and bottom and clamped the battery to the tray with the all-thread.
