The mother of all doubler crossmember pics thread

More please!

I like the suspended idea.

Yes, x2 :D

mine won't be on a k5 frame though, it'll be suspended on a full tube chassis. I just need an idea for bracing the crossmember, maybe even add another crossmember to carry the weight of the doubler.

Here's my old setup-

Made mostly from factory parts.

This one is before the notch for the driveshaft-

Hey sorry about the random newb question but im really tryin to learn here, whats a cross member and does a stock k5 have one, and if not do i need one? Thanks in advance to whomever answers this post

the crossmember is what holds your trans/t-case assembly up between the frame rails. Every vehicle has one, 2 or 4wd. Crawl under your truck and you will see it

Here's another pic of a doubler mounting plate. This is sold by Copperhead Fab.

Just finished my suspended x-member...still not sure if I'll have enough room fo r my seat (pass seat won't really matter I'll just slap it somewhere in there) but I'll worry about that later. Worked around hoping to leave enough room for my seat and the exhaust that'll run to the driver side.

TTT, any more ideas? I pulled the one I built...not happy with it for several reasons. Going to redo it in the next few weeks to make room, change the mounting location of the bushings to the adaptor instead of the frame, & make some decent welds :haha:
