Pistons are .025” of an inch in the block, with a .051” compressed gasket
That's pretty typical of a ZZ4. I was hoping they changed that on the ZZ5/6 but never had one. Instead of making a dished piston the just reduced the compression height. Quench is horrible but they still seem to work fine. But they would be better with a proper dished piston. I think Felpro makes a .015" head gasket you could try. But your decks on the block and heads have to be near perfect.
 
seems that .025 down is pretty standard for a stocker. I’m puzzled at the .051 head gasket though instead. I guess a cost cut, so when people use 85 octane it doesn’t ping. But that quench area is counter intuitive

Gm makes an 028 gasket. Gives me a little over optimum, but leaves so room for imperfections too
