The Purple Camaro

Second is the launch process

I need to wire the line lock switch for 2 buttons. One for burnouts and the other through the stand alone rev limiter for launch control

This also entails having all corrective learning and tuning shut off while at the track. Apparently the ECM system sees the boink off the rev limiter as a tuning issue and tries to adjust

So far I’ve been eyeballing the tach and slipping the clutch. The string of .0xx reaction times the last couple times I went out suggest that this is useful but not critical

What it really does is allows me a procedure that can eliminate distractions or human error

Beyond that there are small nuisance items that need crossed off:

Wiper motor will work, but has no arms and isn’t wired currently
Horn
Reverse lights
Fire ex mount
Carpet needs secured
Door panels need replaced. I have them

Are you still running the zz5?
Kinda, not really. Probably no...

I'll type up more later. But I picked this block up at a friend of mines place.

Roller block single rear seal main. The zz5 block needs machined, 4 holes are trashed
So new rotating assembly. Part of that was to get away from the powdered metal rods in the zz5
I thought I had posted the article aways back about the rods, I'll have to go look
Essentially, powdered metal rods are 11-18% weaker than forged rods
also now forged pistons, same compression

Heads are the same, just painted them black
new cam is 231/236* and 510/520 lift, 111* LSA
About 10 more intake degrees, 6 exhaust
When I bought the last cam there were still so many supply issues that the wait was 4-6 months for a cam, so I bought what was available:
220/229* 114 LSA
Same lift (I would need to machine the heads at the guides to go higher)

Plan is to redo the zz5 and make it all better, including new rings.
I will then put that short block into the k10 as is has some serious oil coming out of the valve cover also

Short answer, the GM crate engines of that time dont seal the cylinders very well...

So like a single rear main 400 stanley steamer? Neato!

At least you didn't surmise that I went LS....

So...is it a 406 now? You kinda skated around displacement with your description of the new engine...

Forged pistons, rod and crank is just the way to go if you want to party, so I like the changes! What did the CR end up at?

I’d have to redo the gasket numbers. Seemed like 10.3

I think we've discussed before that our engines are very close in specs. I just need newer heads, and F.I. but seeing as how I’m the old bastard amongst the group, I’ll keep my car that way too.

looking forward to your test runs!

What would be epic is if there was ever a day Zims Awesomer Corvette ,Marks Camaro and Rene’s Pontiac had a get together on the track!

But first Rene has to buy a driveshaft!? lol!

I've been quietly working on the Pontaliniac, as well as buying the remaining parts. Full gauges, a pair of Kirkey retro bomber seats with padded covers, Rhodes 8 point cage kit and various smalls.

When are you coming up and helping me work on it?

I feel bad I haven’t… so many things to do and if not ,the kids want shit done.
But I made room in the pole shed out back for your trailer to sit inside!

Took it for a blip around the “block”
Supposed to very the throttle a bunch to set the rings, not hit the rev limiter. Seems to spin the tires more now. Mmm

Looks like a stockish 305HO

Every time you post a picture showing the paint, I'm reminded just how cool the graphics are on this car! I love it!
