The R/C Garage... [R/C Drivers Lounge]

tlt axles under the scale axial kit with the proline body. proportions turnout good that way.

Now if you really want to spend some money and go fast.....

By the way.....it's for sale ....if you have 3500.00 laying around and don't know what to do with it...:waytogo:

Heres my old school Clod Buster. Bought a new kit, then changed almost everything to ESP chassis and suspension. Got their snow plow kit too. It flexes pretty good for what it is, but steering moves too much, could be the 364 oz. 1/4 scale servo I have. Put Axle snapper motors, adjustable motor mounts, changed the pinion 13 to 9 I think, it is slow as sh!t, but will go over anything or push it out of the way.....

Ive been wanting to get into this stuff lately, but just no funds for it now. Would be a nice size, now that I no longer live in the sticks with lots of room for haording fullsize trucks.

Heres what I started with for my K5

Then the project rustler started as this.

And wound up as this

Back from the dead!
---------------------------

I'm rebuilding my Rusty.
All you guys talkin' RC made me bust out the spare parts.... :pimp:

I'm going for a Baja Buggy, type design. :D

I know, it looks like a lot of weight for the back....
IMG_8174.jpg

I'm gonna build a cage, like a buggy would have, that also protects the motor.
The cage will bolt to the skid plate, on the bottom.

I'm gonna distribute the weight, so the a$$ end stays down in the whoops.
I may also incorporate some kind of sliders, and bumpers....

I love to get all Tim Cameron, on my RC trucks... :haha:
I beat my RC's, like they owe me money... :deal:

I'm seriously considering 4130 parts...
------------------------------------------------------------

Today:

- Rebuilt all 4 shocks.
- Moved Shock Mount locations to raise stance.
- Installed softer Coils.
- Fab'd up a spare tire carrier.
- Beefed up, upper Shock Tower hardware. (.25" Stainless.)
- Made custom hub nuts out of 1/2" SS nuts. (Got tired of melting th plastic ones.)
(*Dremel'd a slot for the spindle lock; Heated the nut, and melted into rim.)

I shouldn't be able to break these...

Oh, the potential!!! :woot:

You might wanna rebuild the shocks, too... :haha:
well one of them is seized, I will need to do some work, but this is how I started learning about mechanics, built the whole thing from a box of parts.
The tube cage is tied to the frame and has a full length skid plate, it went up to 45MPH I never pushed it more than that.
:dunno:

I would try to raise the stance, if anything....
Then, you could race in the dirt, and stuff... :D
Oh it does great in the dirt, that is where I played with it, but it won't do rocks, it's geared too high.
I did put a helper spring in the back to lift it a bit and it made it nice for the A team Van body I put on it for a while, it was much slower on the take off though and I had to put a harder spring on the clutch but it rode smooth

My Trucks

I just got a Traxxas Slash 4x4. Pretty fast out of the box and I just got some new shocks for it today. :thumb:

I also have a Clodbuster. I upgraded the shocks and ball bearings instead of the stock bushings. It's not that fast but sure is fun in the snow. I also ordered a custom grill from a company in Germany. I thought it was the whole grill but it turned out just to be an insert. A little custom work with the Dremmel and some paint and it turned out pretty cool. :grind:

RC trucks are fun. Its about 80 here in Iowa today and it was the first thing I thought about doing. I broke the lightbar on my Clodbuster so its been a bittersweet afternoon so far. Luckily you can still get replacement parts for it...much cheaper than damaging a big one.

What shocks did you get for the slash>?

If they're Integy's, shove something in the upper shock cap;
To push, and hold, the seal down, when screwing the cap back on.....

The rubber seals LOVE to slip outta place, and spew shock fluid all over.
Makes for a $hitty ride, and nasty clean up... :D

So I would like to build a scale crawler to match my big truck. I am looking at the proline 80 chevy body. My question is which is the closest electric crawler that would match this body? Looking to just play with it mainly. I was looking at the axial r/c but really don't know.
