The R/C Garage... [R/C Drivers Lounge]

I just got the brushless setup for my 2wd slash. Havent had much of a chance to really run it yet.

I'm gonna go lipo one of these days. I just dont feel like spending money on RC stuff right now. I'm saving for a stroker kit for my 89.

RC pRon.

Yes the Ultimate is brushless, I think all the new Slash's are brushless.

Pretty sure this is all the telemetry stuff. You dock your iPod or iPhone to the controller after downloading an app and you can fine tune all sorts of stuff, plus keep tabs on rpm, speed, batt voltage, temp etc etc.

Along with the big bore shocks, the ultimate comes with upgraded aluminum parts at the hubs and stuff.

Gonna run the NiMh batt for a while til I get used to it. I'm sure eventually a 3S LiPo will end up in it....but I'm a ways away from that for sure.

problem the ax10 is not really a scaler.. you would need to swap the frame first...

a good one is the tcs xtrail chassis.. i got that on my foff im building.. and my foff was running great yesterday.. just need to mount the body and gear it correctly..:thumb:

That's the plan :thumb:

I always wanted to make it a scaler.
With a genuine frame, and cage, and all that stuff. :D

The hobby shop, near me, has frames for $60.

I wanna try and make it mirror my Blazer. We'll see what happebns...

A little f'in around in the snow...

you can see the part that broke so i broke the other side off so it matches..
all in all.. it moves.. cant gas it or it spins out.. needs better tires or something..

also you can see the rear has a single spring.. i need to put a stiffer spring in there.. tonight i took it apart and stretched the stocker but thinking maybe a pen spring in there as it will be mostly compressed.. not sure...

i will be going at least 2s lipo at first.. need to get a buzzer off of ebay...
and maybe a better esc and then 3s!!!! will see...

Watching that vid makes me really regret getting a 2wd slash. I really need to step up to better tires, in snow all it really does is spin out. No idea how bad it would do with the brushless.

I think the next RC purchase is a crawer motor for my SCX10. Ill have to get an ESC too so its gonna wait.

Most of that vid is at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I'm not used to having to modulate the throttle on RC stuff. At full throttle it was very hard to control, at least until it had about 4 lbs of snow in/on it and the batt started going dead...:haha:

throw some paddles on that thing and it isnt f'in around anymore it is
FOFF'n around.. :haha:

dont do what i did.. go for the right motor up front..

i bought a 27t axial to just get it running as it had a 20t in it .. ($10)
then went 55t novak expert ($40)
all in all. i liked the speed of the 27t and the crawling of 55t..
only reason i changed off the 27t is my stock tires/rims (5.2oz each) went to better tires and rims (12.6oz each) making rolling weight way more and it wouldnt move well...

i was told by holmes hobbies that the 35t hand wound will get me back to the speed of the 27t but with the crawling of 55t...

so go right first time and either get a hand wound 35t crawler or go brushless but sensored.. more expensive but sensored is needed to crawl a brushless motor

oh and a hh 35t is like $60 so i could have already paid for one just about.. :doah:

What I did was buy the brushless setup for my slash and the SCX10 at the same time, so I just dumped the old slash stuff into the crawler.

I think I just need to bit the bullet and do it, The thing kills batteries so fast with the 12T motor, and Ive broke two servos already screwing around in the house since its so fast.:doah:

I suppose a sensored brushless and ESC is a ton of money too.

Two servos in two days. I have another rebuild kit but I need a better servo in the scx10.

Just bought an X-Trail chassis and some new links and stuff for the crawler... Looking forward to getting it together. I've been playing with it quite a bit and I'm pretty hooked

Went to the RC track on Saturday. Was in the 40's. Guys were breaking plastic parts because it was cold. Stuff that normally would just flex and bounce back.

Funny cold weather RC story...years ago my parents got my younger brother a Traxxas Sledgehammer for Christmas (that should tell you how long ago) I had done a sweet all out paint job on the body ahead of time. So he opens it, is all excited, charges up the old 7.2v pack and we take it outside (approx 20*F) to the little track we had built behind the back yard. He makes it 3/4 of a lap and hits this little step down jump we had, comes up short, it lands perfectly upside down and the lexan body literally explodes :doah: there were 4 pieces about the size of quarters still attached to the body posts and that was it.
