"The Raped Grape" turning wilted raisin... ***crash update, pics start post 600***

He swapped out an SM465 for an automatic, my guess is Back Street Boys.

Martin

:haha:

Although in the dunes the SM465 would be pretty worthless, unless he just wanted to tool around on the bottom flats all day, boring! I would of swapped it out faster than you could of shifted it out of granny gear! :D

Of course if the engine was a high rpm bbc a single gear would be ok

Backstreet boys - i want it that way. Was a pretty big hit:whistle: just sayin

Onto the truck. Although the motor is in i have to do something with the crossmember its just barely hitting the oil pan. I got the dirty dingo slideable mounts so i am able to slide the motor forward and clear the fire wall.

What are people who have done the swap running for x members?

Also gotta start going through my harness and stripping it. Not really looking forward to that one. Anyone got some good tips to help that go smoothly?

Also in search trying to find out what kind of spacing i need on my flex plate for mating a th400 to the 5.3?

Tips use a 4x8 sheet of ply and screws with heat shrink to help separate wires. Print out the pinouts and take your time, do not rush. If you cut a wire you can always splice it back together with heat shrink and solder. It's easy if you take your time.

I'll admit even my short throw had problems shifting in the sand and its a hell of a lot faster than a 465. But if you have enough rpms you can pick a gear and burry it till the top. That's what I did and it would have worked better if my suspension could keep up with the rpms. I suspect Nate's crazy lift won't take much speed to start bouncing hard on the bumps and whoops. :doah:

This is very true. Just gonna have to be a little crazy, have a good back, and a nice mouth guard to ride/drive in the raped grape is all:dunno:

Re-doing the suspension will take place eventually but many other things need to happen long before then. She'll be a big stiff SOB for a while.

As far as harness tips, read through this on lt1swap.com and just follow his instructions. Its easy if you just do it step by step. He also has more pics on FB.
