You do mean the CDR valve, right? You can test that theory by driving around with the oil cap off. Or find an oil cap that has a built-in vent. CUCVs and Olds diesels came with this style:

I opted to yank it. It’s progressively getting worse and for piece of mind I decided to just suck it up and do it.
Got everything yanked out and tomorrow it goes back in. Hopefully I’ll do it right this time.
Got some guys coming over tomorrow to lend a hand so I figure between the 3 of us we oughta be able to get it right

So you've definitively found the leak to be at the rear main seal?
Yes. The seal is soaked. Except for maybe the top. Perhaps that’s hard to see in the photos?
It looks like it, but pictures are deceiving. Us folks here in the peanut gallery will never have the same understanding that you do, seeing it directly with your eyeballs.
