Every Part Is Replaceable
Ordered a new PCV will be here tomorrow, figure it’s cheap enough that it’s worth at least ruling it out.

You do mean the CDR valve, right? You can test that theory by driving around with the oil cap off. Or find an oil cap that has a built-in vent. CUCVs and Olds diesels came with this style:

So my wife’s truck blew a head gasket yesterday. For real. So it’s in the shop for the next week. That being said, my truck has become the primary vehicle and is getting used everyday. Haven’t had a chance to get it on the highway again, but I have gotten it up to speed and purposely driven it hard, and thus far the rear main seal leak has barely presented itself. But, again it also hasn’t been on the highway in the last couple of days, which is usually when the leak presents itself. I plan to get it on the highway for a while tomorrow, and am hopeful that the leak will be minimal.

Put the truck on the highway again, with a new CDR valve, ran it 30 miles up to the Georgia state line. Ran very smooth. All temperatures were happy, oil pressure was happy, truck was happy running 75mph.

But. Still leaking oil from the rear main seal. Even more actually than before. See the videos below.

Oil is dripping off and covering the oil pan, front drive shaft, and front of trans drive shaft.

Have been sitting in the parking lot of a truck stop idling for about 10 minutes and so far only 1 maybe 2 drops on the ground. Clearly, the problem is on the highway, not idling or at low speeds.

Thoughts?

For what it’s worth, this is what the ground looked like after idling for 15 minutes and no difference in amount of oil on the pan

Eh, I'd drive it. The trans on my dodge leaked like that for a couple years before I finally fixed it. The wind from moving makes it look worse then it really is. The fact that it's not dripping much if any. Tells a better story.

I opted to yank it. It’s progressively getting worse and for piece of mind I decided to just suck it up and do it.

Got everything yanked out and tomorrow it goes back in. Hopefully I’ll do it right this time.

Got some guys coming over tomorrow to lend a hand so I figure between the 3 of us we oughta be able to get it right

So you've definitively found the leak to be at the rear main seal?

Yes. The seal is soaked. Except for maybe the top. Perhaps that’s hard to see in the photos?

It looks like it, but pictures are deceiving. Us folks here in the peanut gallery will never have the same understanding that you do, seeing it directly with your eyeballs.

“EYEBALLS” is my son’s favorite word.

Yeah, I can’t really tell why it’s leaking, but it is. My best guess is that I didn’t get it seated correctly. And I’ve also heard more than once that letting the seal sit for a long period of time after installation without running the engine can mess the seal up. And I didn’t lubricate the crank. Just the seal.
Here are some better pictures.

If that were mine, I'd probably scrub the crap out of the end of the crank while the pan is on. Smoother and clean for the seal, not crap in the pan or in the bottom of the engine
