The RedBurb

Every Part Is Replaceable
It IS a 1996 506 block, but it has the 92 DB2 injection pump.
I was going to do this, but I ended up selling the 94 engine and parting the truck and doubling my money and keeping the rebuilt nv4500.
I have a 98 6.5 N/A in a bread van the I will toss a turbo on and get a nice 92 db2

Rolled the red truck back and pushed the blue truck into the carport bc it’s gonna get a new rear axle this next week and wanted it on level ground. Time for the RedBurb ti get a little sun.

Really need to get some weight in the back of it so it’s not so nose heavy.

I got bored and instead of filling the BluBurb’s tranny w fluid and checking for leaks like i should have done, i decided to spend my lunch break yankin the zero rates from the RedBurb’s rear spring packs. It is still time well spent, because it is going to get moved over to the side of the house for the rest of Christmas season and I wanted to get this done while it was still on a paved surface.

Those 64s are SO flexy. The 14 bolt durn near laid down on the ground.

It still sits high. But not as high. I need to get some weight in the back of it.

I’m gonna have to replace the core support at some point bc mine has cracks everywhere. Ive always liked the single headlight style grill on the 1989 suburbans and k30 work trucks. But what kind of core support do I need? Only thing I can find for replacements is the dual/quad style core supports like what on the BluBurb. Some early to mid 80s trucks had single headlamps, but they’re not the same as what I’m looking for (in the bottom photo).

The top photo, the core support is the dual stacked headlight style.

You looking for pictures or a source?

You looking for pictures or a source?

Yeah both. But I believe I have it settled now.

The boys at New Boys Squarebody Rescue say they have several specific to single headlamp 89-91 trucks. So that’s my source. Price is reasonable. Waiting for a shipping quote. Don’t need it for a while so just in the planning stage right now. Just glad I know where to get it now.

Top core support won’t work with the 89-91 Cheyanne single headlight setup. Found that out the hard way. Like you thought they are both single headlights just different grilles and bezels. Sadly, GM changed them just enough they are not interchangeable.

When we did my 8.1 swap originally we put an ‘88 core support in to do the same setup you want to do. All was well until I tried to put the bezels on. The opening for the headlight is in a different enough location bezel won’t fit. You’ll see in my pics there’s about a years worth of time I ran it without bezels because I was looking for the right core support.

You’ll have to find an 89-91 Cheyanne core support if you want to run that grille.
