The restoration/modification of Daisy.

so today, through a local 4x4 club, i got a hold of a smog shop that set me straight as far as engine swaps go. as long as the engine is the same age or newer than the truck, as long as it came out of a truck with the same or lower GVWR and as long as its the same type of fuel system, i'm good. so no 70s engines in my 89 truck, no diesels in my gas truck, no engines from a c/k30 and no carburetors. so it looks like a 454 swap is gonna happen!
:woot::woot:

Good choice, reliable system. Definitely an upgrade from a carb and not gonna set u back a fortune for now.

i'm sure it is, but i never had a carb. i never had any problems with my old TBI until i let the truck sit for a couple years, TBIs are good reliable systems if either left completely alone or modified properly.

Ooops forgot what year we were talking about here. It's getting useful modifications that is the trick.

seeing eclipse85k10's paint work made me jealous, so i went out to the garage and grabbed what ever i could find. so now my inner fenders and frame rails have a fresh coat of rustoleum flat black on them... thats something, right?

Looks like shes coming back to life!!! Makin good progress! I put a Vortec 454 in my truck, with a 502HP 502 cam in it, I put on old school heads and a carb, but it scoooooots!!! :)

man, tax returns cant come soon enough. getting rid of the body lift, rear blocks and buying an engine is gonna be great!!

thats cool, thanks! i'm just gonna stick with TBI for now. then when i get a new daily driver, my '99 chevy C2500 is donating its vortec 5.7 and 4L80E to the suburban.

NOW yer talking!!!:thumb:

it'd be easy, ill get a divorced 205 case and drop the 5.7/4l80 in together as a stand alone unit. i'd rebuild both first as theyve currently got 155k on them.

i finally did something suburban related today. i went to a local junkyard and pulled two XJ steering shafts. one's form a '90, the other is from a '93. there are some slight differences between them so i figured i'd post some photos and see which is the right one. i guess i could have pulled the shaft off of my suburban and matched them up, but that'd make too much sense. lol

i'm beginning to think i should move this to the garage.
