The restoration/modification of Daisy.

let me tell you what, i'm fkn impressed with that Dmax truck. it was able to spin the tires with the sub on the trailer behind it.:bow:

Hence why i don't drive powerful trucks until i am ready to make the purchase....

i washed her today, i think she might have looked better dirty. now you can see where the primer that i sprayed on has worn off over the last 10yrs. i also came out to find an engine oil stream down the driveway, the oil cooler lines were hanging down and bled out. so i tucked em up and cleaned off the driveway.

ooh, she needs a couple more inches in the rear.. can't wait to see you kick this things ass!

When on level ground it's 1.5" low in the rear. That and the engine is out of it right now. We'll see how it sits after a shackle flip and some zero rates. I'm fine with a little sag but when it's loaded I don't want it sitting 2+" low.

I got out into the garage today before it warmed up too much. Got the fuel tank, shocks, oil cooler lines, sway bar and bumpers off of it. The oil cooler lines were in the way trying to get the sway bar off, and the bumpers will never go back on the truck anyway.

As I dig into this truck I find **** that I did 10 or so years ago that makes me wonder WTF I was thinking. Like this, I have to cut off and lower all 4 frame horns.

I get it you cut and welded them like that because of the body lift? And are you taking the body lift out?

yeah i think the gap left between the body and bumpers looks like ****. and i'm still unsure about ditching it. ive thought about dropping it to a 1" but we'll see how everything clears when i clock the transfer case. i'd like a fuel tank that tucks up a little tighter also.

I like the idea of a 1 inch body lift. I had a truck with a 3", was nice for clearance working under the hood but I didn't like all the rest of the excessive gaps.

Whats the status on your engine?

Engine? Non existent right now. I'm saving $$ to get something. Not sure if I wanna do another TBI engine or a 5.3l swap.

Check out ebaymotors! There is numerous complete 5.3's with computer and harness for $1500 or less! Shipping could be cost prohibitive but its certainly worth looking into! I would much rather have a 5.3 for about the same money as i would dump into rebuilding a TBI 350! More horse power, more torque, more MPG, same cost*.

*Depending on what route you take. A 5.3 swap can cost as little as $1200 if you do it all on the cheap or as much as $5000 or more if you do it all on the expensive side!

yeah ive been looking around on ebay and locally. a local yard has several 5.3s with computers/harnesses for under $1k. i sent an email to pacific fabrication about the swap, they're some of the best LS swap guys out there. i'm hoping to find a stand alone harness that'll let the engine work with my gauges and TH400/NP241.

i popped the sending unit out of the tank today, YUCK!! i didnt think it'd be this ugly. i'm not sure if i even wanna try cleaning out my tank or just buy a new one.

the pump/sending unit, pretty ugly.

Wow! I have never seen one that bad! Get one from a wrecking yard at least. Gotta be better then that thing!

i'm gonna talk to a local shop that rebuilds radiators and ****, see if they can help me. otherwise, LMC sells the tank and sending unit.

Subscribed! Looking good. Just shook hands on an 88 3/4 ton today for $2k. Will be picking it up next week. I'll be watching this for ideas. :waytogo:

cool man, congrats. hopefully soon i'll be starting in on the suspension. i wanna get rid of the blocks for a shackle flip, throw some zero rates in up front and get rid of the body lift. thats the plan for now anyway, lol!

Thanks. Yeah that was my thinking too. Has a Rough Country 6" on it with what looks like 2" blocks...maybe 3"...not sure...will have to measure when I get it. I need to talk to Kert to see what length shackle I should go with. I have a set of zero rates I bought a few years ago for my k5 but they never got used.

Keep the updates coming.
