The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Looks good! :waytogo:

Nice to see Daisy getting done.

Don't forget to account for trail gear weight, spare tire and such when setting the ride height.

Lookin good! I like the 5" lift, that's what I have on mine and I think it looks right. What size tires are you going to go with in the end?

Yeah I'm thinking the rear needs a zero rate.

I'd love to have 37x12.50s on it but they're expensive! So for now I'm gonna get some 35s. The tires on it measure 35.5" mounted so I won't be losing much.

I have 35's under mine right now, but I am really wishing I had just gone with 37's because I think they look so much more proportionate to the bulky suburban. Isnt it only going to be about a 2-$300 difference? Not too much in the grand scheme of things IMO.
Either way, the truck is looking good! Now start that thing up and lets see some driving footage already!

in stead of spending the time n money on zero rates you can get brand new 52's for it for $280 a set and have your new springs now + sit level.

I know its quite a bit more than zero rates but its pretty cheap still.

I have 56" springs but I get what you're saying. New springs will level it out and it'll sit taller.

37s do look better and yeah, it's about $300-400 more. Dammit don't put these thoughts into my head.

so the thread title says wiring and tires decisions...

are you still deciding on those?

I can recommend the ez-wiring 21 kit.. but I will emphasis... but the color coded kit. I bought all black thinking the wires say oil temp every 12" but the problem was all manuals or old timers say the light green goes too.... UGHHH THEY ARE ALL BLACK!!!!!!!!!!! :haha:

all in all though I love my setup.. I even cut the wires and put them through the factory harness....

tool, connectors and harness total ran me around $200ish i believe...

and it fits the stock GM block thus why i connected back through my oem harness...

I'll see if I can get them into a flat rate box, I don't have the hardware any more though.

I've never really looked into any aftermarket harnesses. A friend of mine is doing a lot if the wiring. It's taking a while because of his schedule but we'll get it done.

The restoration/modification of Daisy... [wiring and tire decisions]

Why?

Martin

The only tires available for them are military surplus and interco. I don't want either of those. It's just an outdated design. And I just picked up a set of H2 17s.

gotcha... yeah no worries on the hw for the bl... i can get the bolts..

oh also i can do a shipping label for you and email it to ya as a pdf for you to print.. as i have a usps acct... then paypal dont take any fees... those greedy bast@rds!

but on the wiring.. if you guys are doing it then that is cool.. i just wanted to give you a first thought on an aftermarket with a thought on it..

i really like it so if I had to to another rewire I wouldnt hesitate but like said not in black..

The BFG's and the newer Goodyears are not an outdated tire.

You've got me thinking about it now. Painless has a harness that includes the fire wall connector and everything. It's tempting... Knowing it's all new would be cool.

I'm not saying they are, that BFG is a nice looking tire. The 16.5 wheel is an outdated design, with 17s I don't need bead locks to air down a little and tire availability with 17s is much better. I don't want them on my truck. Back when I was in high school and didn't care/know any better I bought them and now I'd rather have something else.

well painless is painless but painful in the wallet...

side note on the cool for new... mine was different..

i was at my fathers and it got dark. When I went to leave.. I was in my truck and he was standing outside the drivers side and we talked some more.. i started the truck turn the lights on and he said.. your headlights arent on... so i messed with the switch.. then kicked the floorboard.. they came on.. went off once while driving home..

in a few weeks i had an issue where the truck wasnt running right.. electric choke was acting up.. so i used a volt meter..
hmmm 4.5v from a 12v source (ran the wire myself...)...

I pulled the connector off the firewall and pulled it apart... there were frayed wires being held on by a few strands, few wires shorted together...

i walked in the garage.. got a set of side cutters and cut EVERY wire out of my truck under the "Rage" act... and was forced to do something...

the wires i cut were all at that harness area...

so my rebuild... I cleaned up the front harness (some wires got caught around the steering shaft and pulled apart and i had wirenuts or just wires twisted together with e-tape holding them together.. so i soldered everything and shrink tubed them... rear harness was fine so re-used..

but in the cab had to be all redone and since i had so much work cut out for me I simply cut mine and used the connectors to go through the OEM harness... love it.. feels so much better knowing rock solid there..

oh and also I know about the relay/headlight upgrade... my lights are SO MUCH brighter now with just the replacement harness as they used larger wire... not sure if that is why but something is better....

Run a stock steel GM wheel. They have a safety bead.

Yeah I think knowing it's all new would be worth it. When I get home I'll take a look at the harness you used. Looking at all this stuff on my phone is a pain in the ass.

Ok. I'll get rid of my H2 wheels and find a set of 25yr old heavy ass wheels and run some mil-surp tires.
