I'm at a BBQ catering gig today but we'll be back out in the garage tomorrow. Here's something to hold you guys over.
I picked up my fan shroud yesterday. .065" 5052 aluminum with stainless 1/4-20 hardware, nutserts and my flex-a-lite fans.

Soon! Very soon! She aught to be driving this month. then I'll work on things like bumpers and sliders and getting some miles on her to prep for Moab.
i got a few things done last weekend. put 5gal in her and primed the fuel system, no leaks, filled the transfer case, transmission and both diffs. looks like there's a slight leak from the front diff cover, figures...
shifter installed.
radiator installed, coolant temp sensor for the new gauge installed in the pass side cyl head and filed with coolant. i need a new cap and overflow tank still though.
1350 u-bolt yokes installed front and rear.
all new lights/lenses on the front end.
today at work i welded up the Y-pipe, welding 16ga tubing with a millermatic 200 ain't easy. that old thing doesn't turn down enough to keep from burning through. had to tack and backstitch like crazy, took almost two hours to get it all done. just need to add O2 sensor bungs now.
also bought some battery cable. this weekend i'll make battery cables and Antibling is gonna work on the dash some more.
oh and all the new grille parts showed up.

Sweet progress man! So when do you think you will fire it up?
depends on how wiring goes this weekend, as soon as next weekend possibly. in a couple more weeks i'll be able to afford drivelines so hopefully by then.

Sweet! Im really hoping to at least hear mine run again by memorial day. The good news/bad news for me is that im going out of town for the long memorial day weekend. So i will be having fun, but i could get everything 100% done over memorial day weekend if i was staying home.
I know that feeling, weekend activities that I might otherwise enjoy are just seen as time taken away from my Suburban at this point. It's become all-consuming just as i thought it would. Time not working on the Suburban is spent looking for/ordering parts, planning the next weekend's work and eventual camping trips with her.
Websites like American Adventurist and Expedition Portal are great resources for planning back road adventures. Expo just re-vamped their site, there's some really cool useful info on there. From maps and GPS tracks to gear/vehicle reviews to trip planning and financing. I can't wait to drive my truck!

Good progress! I might have missed it, but where did route your steam port too?
I haven't yet, my old overflow bottle is cracked so for now the hose is just tucked in behind the battery.
