The restoration/modification of Daisy.

What happened? I thought you ordered it?

sorry to hear that Scott, I was looking forward to that happening.

i put down a deposit on it and my mother in law was gonna pay the rest. i was a little skeptical from the beginning and shouldn't have counted on it happening til it actually happened. my mother in law is kinda crazy, 20+yrs of Indian reservation Drs feeding her happy pills has screwed her brain up pretty good. so i think next week i'll bring the old 350 over to the house and start tearing it apart. then maybe someday it'll get a 12v cummins like ive always dreamed of.

Lame! Oh well. The 350 will work fine.

yeah it will, even a 200hp engine is better than no engine. i think my wife was more upset about it than me, going on about it not being the engine i want, etc. i told her i'll be fine and i just want my truck running. i didn't want to tell her that i never really counted on her mom to come through for me. lol! anyway, its in the past and i'm moving forward.

today i made some custom, one (or two actually) of a kind parts for my suburban. i wasn't happy with the idea of grafting in some extra upholstery or having gaps around a new speaker in the back of my truck. ive only seen the upholstery graft turn out nice one time (dhcomp's) and even that would bug me. so i made some adapter plates to fit two 3.5"s into each old 4x10 hole. i know the gun-ho car audio guys are gonna say its a bad idea but it'll look nice and i figure it's gotta sound better than 22yr old 4x10"s. if i find myself needing more i'll build a speaker box to fit under the stock spare tire cover and house a small amp and a pair of 8" or a single 10" sub in there. i'm not at all a big car audio guy, i just want the ability to listen to music while i'm going down the road. as soon as i'm off road the music goes off anyway.

once they're painted black (paint is drying right now) and i get black hardware, you'll never know what's in there.

That's a great idea. Bummer bout the engine.

Maybe there is a CL deal out there and you can get it on the road again.

Sucks about the engine man, had things like that happen to me before. Do a mild build on the 350 and save your pennies for the cummins. You will be happier in the long run anyway I think. I like the speaker idea. Since your not building an audio competiton veh and just want some tunes I think it will work out fine.

Yeah I'm gonna bring that engine over to the house, pressure wash it and start tearing it apart. I found a set of vortec heads locally on CL for $100, I'm thinking I might grab them this week and try to use those instead if the ****ty stock TBI heads.

vortecs are great heads...but be aware the are only setup for about .470 lift stock. They are easily worked for larger lift cams. (I'm sure you know tbi cams bring teh suck...:doah:)

Yeah they bring it by the truckload. Id like to get this truck running man, haven't driven it since 2005 and even then it ran like **** and wasn't registered anyway. I need to stop going back and forth on what engine I want and make due with what I've got for now. I cant tell you how damn many different ideas I've had.

I feel your pain...I have several F.I. rigs in my garage, all incomplete...don't have the extra $$ to finish any of them...:haha::haha::haha:

I have a TPI setup, but I need a ecm and harness and a Vortec base manifold to make it work...

I have an Edelbrock multi point conversion for TBI, but I have since learned it doesn't work to it's full potential with the TBI ecm...so again, I need a TPI ECM & harness...

I've been jonesing for an old Accel SuperRam plenum & runers for the TPI..to get more rpm's out of the TPI..

and, since I've joined CK5, I have gotten the diesel bug...bad :doah::doah::doah::doah:

If I ever hit the lotto, my neighbors are gonna hate me!:haha:

Scott if your thinking of a bore job, I might have a set of pistons that are .040 to donate to your cause...If interested let me know, and I'll check them out better to find out exactly what they are, and how good of shape they are in.

i know the diesel bug well, ultimately i'd love to drop a cummins into the sub but theyre focking expensive!

sounds good man!

I'll check em out, and get some pics and try to identify exactly what they are Scott.
I got them at a clean out sale for $20 with a bunch of other stuff...I'll try to get em figured out in the next couple days.
you smokin' for turkeyday?

Why not just pick up a good used long block and run it . No sense spending any real money on something your gonna pull before long anyways

cool man, not smoking anything this year, frying again. its been a few yrs since we fried.

ive thought about this plenty of times, it makes sense... i hate doing things twice but at the same time, that would get it driving sooner than anything else.

Might be the best option really. When do you see you getting a cummins for it? If its less then 5 years or so, then maybe a good used motor for $500 would be your best option.

Yeah I hear ya, but if you really want a Cummins or an LS theres no point sticking any money into a TBI motor.

Do you guys have any drug auctions or Insurance auctions close buy???

Might be a good place to dig up a Donor rig
