The restoration/modification of Daisy... [trying to get **** done]

I thought bd does the steam port into the water pump for you?

Ok than I guess I don't know what a steam port is. You guys aren't referring to the hose from the radiator to the overflow bottle?

And yes BD installs taps a hole into the pump housing and has a hose running to it. Guess I need to look at the book that came with it again.

4 ports on top of motor they have coolant running through them. The forward ones run across and up to the throttle body to heat the air.

My NP241 SYE kit showed up today. i'll install that this weekend. while i'm rebuilding my case, my friend is coming over to start wiring the dash. we're going to eliminate all the unused wiring while we're at it. cheap bastards give you a 1350 u-bolt style yoke without u-bolts...

i mounted the ECM on the drivers side inner fender, i laid out the harness for the TCM and i'm going to mount it right next to the ECM so all the harness work is right there in that area. i also laid out the cold air intake a little differently, i think this'll work nicely. i'll build a bracket stand off the inner fender to keep the filter from rubbing on it. eventually i'll figure out some kind of snorkel or at least a wall to go around it. i still need to sand blast my battery trays.

I THINK you can see what I always thought was the steam port that BD installs on all motors in the last pic above right under the CAI?

This is what you guys are referring to?

Oh and since you posted that nice picture... what are the two small ports directly below the throttle body? ive been wondering but never looked into it much

Stock, the coolant runs from the steam port, through those two ports under the throttle body, and then on to the radiator. The idea is that in super cold conditions, the throttle body could ice over with the cool air coming through it. The steam port running through the throttle body would help keep it warm and help ward off the icing.

I think it's just that you would have to run the hose further.

That's what I've heard. Running it to the water pump makes the engine a little more self contained or stand alone. Makes sense that a turn key engine service would do it that way.

I thought those were vacuum ports when I first got the engine.

Any disadvantage to not running the steam port to the water pump?

I ran it into the upper radiator line so that it's back at the highest point in the system and if I ever loose the water pump in Moab or somewhere on a trip I don't have to try and drill and tap a new one. Bought an adapter for $35 shipped.

That's a good way of looking at it. Guess I'll keep a drill bit and tap in the toolbox, just in case.

Looks good dude. Can't wait to see it running

Thanks, neither can I.

i spent all weekend working on Daisy. she doesn't look any different to show for it but we're making progress. i spent a lot of the weekend looming harnesses and figuring out placement/routing. we're guessing that two more days of work will have her running. i get discouraged from time to time, seeing other guys doing LS swaps that are running long before mine but i keep reminding myself that i'm doing a new dash and chassis harness as well. not just an engine swap. there's very little about the drivetrain that is stock.

ran the oil pressure, coolant temp, a/c, and starter wires to their locations. that looped green wire sticking out there it for the a/c, i don't have the relocation kit for the compressor yet so that wire is gonna stay as is til i need it.

I'll allow it. That is going to look so good at night!

they light up blue, all the switches i bought for lights and such light up blue. oh and so does this. the keypad and all the switches will be mounted where the OEM radio went, under the HVAC controls.
