Those tow bars scare me. Weld those adjustable sections up before towing.
No reason to risk all that work you put in to a cheap hf part.....

I'll be riding in the sub to brake if anything happens. It's 6mi to the driveline shop, I only need it to last that long. Haha!

Dammit, I just got home and saw how easy it would be to weld that thing together. I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
Stock skid will work going to get some dents though
I was going to say this.
For such a short trip I wouldn't worry and it will stay adjustable.
Now when I flat towed my blazer all over the place I had it welded together.

Hey Muddysub when you get this thing drivable you should bring it out to one of the truck meets. West side Wednesdays or Throwdown Thursday. You can join me so I'm not the only burb rolling with the K5MOB.
I'll swing by and check it out sometime. That's not really my scene, one of the guys at work said that last week guys were fighting and ****ing up each others trucks at throw down Thursday. I'll check it out though.
windows are powered, all the lights are functional, dash is installed and i've got license plates! tomorrow i'll install the seats and thursday she'll go to the driveline shop.

Getting right down to it buddy!

Interior is assembled, everything looks good except for one thing. I talked to Ion about it, turns out my suburban is kind of a unicorn. She came with a factory double-din stereo and they don't make an aftermarket dash for it. GM also moved the light switch up 1/2" or so on these models.
I already notched it for the headlight switch, that I can live with. I'll shoot some black paint on the sheet metal behind it to make the hole less noticeable. The stereo side though, I've gotta figure out. Ion offered to send me a plastic filler piece, I might see if a friend of mine can rework the sheet metal to make it look right. Of course then it'll have to be sanded and painted.
Everything looks great otherwise. I ran the trans through all the gears, we're good there. I've got her buttoned up to go get drivelines tomorrow, I should have her back Friday!

I would just do a filler piece for the stereo area.I think you can come up with something quick and easy that will look pretty decent.
