The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Thought I did, so I just went and looked, looks like I'm a dummy. Just the fronts, might have to order a set next week. :thumb:

I really like the modular approach to the crossmembers and sliders. Nicely done and thanks for sharing in detail.

Thank you sir! Years of wrenching on heavy equipment has taught me that complicated designs aren't what you want when it's time to fix things. Especially out in the field. I want everything clean and simple. Don't get me wrong, there are things I'd change I do could but it's pretty much what I want.

its been too long, time for an update. i've been buying parts for the interior and trying to work on the sliders and rear bumper.

i'm tying the sliders into the body to keep them from rattling against the rocker panel and to stiffen everything up some. i cut out four of these and welded them to the inside of the rocker panel, the sliders will have a tube standing off of the legs with a rubber bushing to tie it all together and absorb vibration. my chop saw died so i havent finished those yet.

i've started assembling the rear bumper as well. I've got a few pieces left to cut out and tack on, cut the holes for the hitch and swing out spindles. i'm really happy with it so far. i'm hoping that next week i'll be able to fully weld and paint it.

The body tie in for the sliders are a sweet idea and I think will add substantial resistance to bending

That's a cool idea!

If you have rockers with material on the back side.... :doah:

Haha! I was devastated last night while fueling up the suburban. At the back bottom corner of my passenger side window there's a spot of rust. I'm guessing it's from the holes in the roof (old OEM roof rack) letting water in. Made me think of you, lol!

Fockin a dude. While putting the impact to the body mount bolts I bet I had a lb of rust flakes and dust on the ground afterwards. :haha:

Yeah, the piles of rust I sweep up after cutting up one of these trucks is crazy.

i've only dealt with rusty trucks a couple of times, if i lived in an area that rusts like that, i'm not sure i'd bother building trucks.

I always wind up blowing brown boogers out my nose after working on my truck thanks to the rust lol

I think it creates a special type of bond with the rig. Even though its more of a love/hate type thing :haha:

Ok sorry for the pity party. Back to the fab :thumb:

I got some more rear bumper work done, the ends are capped, hitch and shackle mounts are welded in and the light holes are cut. It's ready to weld. The swing outs will be added afterwards to check for fitment.

Going to have an access hole to reach in an install/remove the pin for the receiver?
