The restoration/modification of Daisy.

You say that now. It's a bigger pain in the ass than you think.

Martin

maybe. i don't own any trailers and the shackle mounts are there for recovery work.

i started welding it all up tonight at home with my 110v welder. i'm doing all the 3/16" stuff with it, i'll take it to work and use the big Miller to burn in all the 1/4" plate, hitch and the 1" thick shackle mounts.

Hey muddysub just finished up reading your thread some good looking work kind of similar to my build on my 85 I was just thinking how cool would an external pin release of some sort be, of course that's just one more thing to go wromg

Not really, I want to stop the banging and rattling so I'm bolting them together.

I paid for a membership mostly for this thread. I love it, and its a similar build to mine. Keep it up brother.

wow, thank you man! i promise there will be updates next weekend, ive got company in town til wednesday then i'll finish weld the rear bumper and start on the front.

as promised, i made some progress this weekend. the rear bumper is welded and mounted. i took it over to my shop and finished welding it with the big 220V machine, mocked it up on the truck, drilled the frame brackets and sanded down all the welds on the outside. overall i'm pretty happy so far. the passenger side seems to have warped some during welding, i think i can fix it. thought it might not be noticeable after the swing outs are built.

i should be able to build the swing outs to clear the doors and swing almost all the way around to the rear fenders.

I finally got around to finishing the sliders, once the paint is dry I'll bolt them back on for good. It'll probably be a few more days yet, I wanna strip and prime the rocker panels while the sliders are off. In case you didn't see earlier in the thread, I'm tying the sliders into the body with rubber bushings to keep them from rattling and banging into the rocker panels. It should also strengthen things up quite a bit.

I've been ordering parts too. I've got an a/c compressor and brackets/pulleys, ORD custom front springs, B52s and some interior/stereo stuff ordered.
