The restoration/modification of Daisy.

No, the frame will be between the B52 and the bumper. The downside to this is that I have to support the truck on jackstands if I want to remove the bumper. Not really sure how often that's going to be an issue but I guess I'll just deal with it if it is.

ah gotchya :waytogo:

Weld the b52s to the frame along with bolts going through to hold bumper on. Then the bolts can be removed to remove bumper and truck stays up.

Its just steel. If you can weld it, you can cut it back off later.

****, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Words to live by, right?

there are some welds under the truck i'm not proud of, i'm learning.

You should be proud of those welds, too. Seeing the welds improve is the proof that you really are learning!

Well done (and thanks for sharing).

Im Curious To See How "Adams" Springs Work On This. It's Kind Of Ironic How Strangely Similar Our Builds Are, Or The Tattoos, Which Cover Me, And The PitBulls. Crazy Ironic, Anyways Hope The Springs Show Up Soon, Your Becoming My Test Pilot Quickly.

Haha that's funny, tattoos, pitbulls, square bodies and BBQ are pretty much my whole life.
I'm getting Adam's springs but made for the additional weight of my rig and with the axle pushed 1" forward. I'm really excited about them.

i had another productive weekend. the B52s and front bumper are mounted. i took the suburban over to my shop and two of my friends came over.

we got the front bumper all welded up, knocked out all the rivets and trimmed the front bushings so we could get the B52s mounted. once they were bolted in place i welded them to the frame as Adam suggested.

Love the bumpers. Do you have the patterns for them, want to share them?

Yes and yes, I need to revise the patterns a little first. Once they're cleaned up I plan to have them converted to DXF files so people can buy them and have them cut locally. I'll also do paper templates for guys that want to cut them by hand.

Sweet!! Would love a DXF. Don't want to sound pushy, but do you have a time frame?

Not really, I'll get started on it though.

I bought a stick of 1/2" conduit yesterday and bent up a simple, single tube flat top stinger. I think the shape is just about perfect. Now I need to have one bent up out of 1.5" tube.
